I went out to Kincaid Andrew, Mat, cade, and myself were there to play and did. Andrew and Mat played twice. I would have helped run it but nothing was posted. Perhaps I mis-understood leagues were closed due to PC work

It wasn't posted but leagues were indeed cancelled to work at PC. I think Louie mentioned it Wednesday night. We are making progress today out here, come out for the evening or tomorrow any of you that can. It's looking more and more like a new course everyday

Are you going to cut any trees down on a few holes or was the course designed as a thumber course , I played the other day and saw numerous holes with no glide in points for throws . Hole 7 needs trees removed

Edan, Louis, myself, and several others working on the renovation continue to play the course and trim where we see trouble spots. The last thing we want to do is take too many trees out, so a little at a time. We will not cut the soul out of PC. A fair amount of local players and park users of expressed concern that we would cut too many trees. Thus, we are maintaining a delicate balance. This is a work in progress, and as you know Thad with Hilltop, it takes time.

I thought that I would take the time and respond to some of your complaints about PC. Let me first start with letting you all know that the Alaska Disc Golf Association has meetings every month. In these meetings we plan out the year and discuss course improvements. We have had many discussion with the new layout @ PC and have staked it out multiple times this winter/spring. I would like all of you to participate in the discussion. Internet whining is a little to late in the construction phase. Hole 7 needs trees removed" Oh Heavens_2_Murgatroyd, Yes we will be removing some trees from hole 7 but not as many as some would like. It is a dog leg and a golf shot that adds character to a course."I won't play competitively there until there are a few more improvements made" That's a bummer Josh but a little late again. I am sorry we do not have your blessing of the course. I hope I will see you at the next work party and we maybe able to address some of your concerns. I hope this honesty on my part will not hurt your feelings. The moral to this all is......... If you would like to be part of the outcome, you have to be willing to participate in the planning and execution phases of the project. Thanks Brian

I've offered equipment to lend and will always help at any local course or as my busy schedule permits. As far as work parties go I've done a bit as once again time permits. I helped with hilltop and have volunteered to aid with a hole or two at Kincaid. I take it upon myself to take care of service as well. Please don't insinuate that because I wasn't at any of the pc work parties I'm just an inactive member of the community bxtching. -josh

I would be happy to come out and cut down the trouble trees I saw blocking fair and challenging lines. I am not out to "gut the heart of pc" but if you take the time to read a Jim Houck book on course design luck should not be the determining factor on whether your disc can glide in. The trees I saw were dead pencil pines on 13 blocking a hyser line through a line to the right of tee , 7 needs a few smaller sucker trees removed to give a chance to get to the fairway with something other than a tomahawk. Brian you know I have never shyed away fromworking on course using my tools and vehicles . I enjoy working on the courses , what I dont enjoy is being treated like shit by people who dont know me other than the what others have said about me. I have done more for DG in this area than all my detracters so they can stick their opinions of me as far up their ass as their heads are . how many forms do you need? are you pouring one at a time or would you need enough for many forms?

i think i have stake's and i know i have scrap lumber on the job im doing. a few 10' 3" and 4' 3" peices might be able to be aquired but i cant rightly take 36 of them :P you basically need 2x6 lumber and some form stakes.

Tre, we are have looked in to buying pressure treated lumber and keeping the forms permanently attached for protection to the concrete edges. Right now we are looking for a truck to pick up and deliver lumber to PC...not having much luck with that.

Justin at Uresco (who is a DGer) gave us the lumber at their cost....I checked the cost with Lowes and it was .50 less a board. Deliver in town is $75, however, Mike Myles was gracious enough to help us out in a bind. I got 8 tees fabricated tonight. But thank you for your interest Tre, it is much more than others who should be stepping up to help out.

birch hill is pretty sweet. good mix of long and short hole and some wooded some wide open. make sure u pack some shoes that can grip some SERIOUSLY SLIPPERY mud if it gets rainy

I've heard the course for the Beaver State Fling is one of the best to play...two 18 hole courses

Horning's Hideout is about 40 minutes west of Portland and has three courses on site. Two are very nice. Pier Park is also another excellent course in Portland.

Well, my brother and I drove an hour and a half to play 18 at the never fling. Very challenging. I wish they had better signage, but loved the layout.
