Are there many in this group planning on the DGMT in Carolina? It would be nice to run into some MA50 players from a new part of the country. Just curious...

I’ll be there as a caddy for Dad, Ron Byrd, who is playing in MA80. He is 91, but there is no division after that. Looking forward to meeting you.

Malum Nothis   September 20 at 8:39pm

See you there.

Did we get an answer on that?

Somebody told me that the 2017 code worked for their renewal. I haven't renewed yet, so I cannot confirm.

Hello fellow disc golfer,

My name is. Lada Rezek, PDGA#54893, I play for the Burnaby DGC, I am average disc golf player with a bad back and funny chin beard. After dropping out of a tournament again, due to my back issues, I decided to heal.

During this healing process I wanted to help my club and become a bigger part of disc golf. It is then I went on an adventure. One I hope the disc golf community will embrace and am sending this message to all disc golf clubs. Well as many as I can.

The 50+DGC is planning an exciting event this summer that will run from July 7-9th at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. It will be for all senior players (>50). It will be an ala-carte program with a C-tier Charity tournament, plenty of casual rounds, scrambles, field games and other events. It will include programs for spouses including access to the KSU REC Center which is a spa like facility, trip to the KSU Fashion Museum, shopping trip, wine tasting tour, and a ladies only 9-hole casu ... more

The PDGA Sr Committee has received requests from, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Illinois, and New Hampshire to help locate disc golfers to run the state Senior Games in those states. If we are to get back into the National Sr Games, we need to develop disc golf in more states. in 2016, only 11 states offered disc golf. We have a long way to go and we need help. I you are interested or know someone who would be interested, please contact directly at '[email redacted]'

To all 50+ DGC members:
To get your discount for your 2017 PDGA membership renewal... apply for renewal... go to payment section... in the coupon code box, enter "17DISCGGVGAFF". That should give you your $5 discount.

In the process of forming up a Club and also have started a League. Had the first member other than myself sign up this week and another new player who is about to sign up. The League is listed as MJ DISCiples in Disc Golf Unitied and the Club goes by the same name MJ DISCiples on Google+. I really am excited for 2017 and believe the the 50+ movement is going to go far.

2016 was my 1st year to compete in PDGA events and third year in this sport. Going by the guidlines suggested by PDGA I started off throwing Novice and Found as the year progressed that at age 56 Advanced Grand Master fit my age group better. However my skills are definately behind many of the other players who have been throwing longer. One thing that would be extremely helpful to the 50+ players would be say adding two additional divisions to the Grand Masters: Recreational for players with 5 years or less experience & Intermediate for 6 to 10 years experience.

Jeff, The PDGA is looking at that right now and is considering some changes. Kepp an eye out for something coming out before next year.

Jeff Steele   September 4, 2016 at 9:10pm

Thanks for the heads up. It sounds like 2017will be both exciting and improved for us 50+ folks.

John MacLeod   September 16, 2016 at 11:40pm

Next year will be my third year and I plan on entering some tournaments after I join PDGA in October. The extra divisions would help me a lot. I'm good with all of the rules, but just lack experience in tournament situations.

John MacLeod    August 30, 2016 at 3:30am

Hello---Finally got around to signing up. How does one get onto the players list? I don't have Facebook. i will get a PDGA membership in October, so I can get the extra time for my dough. Also, there are not a lot of tournaments here in rural southwest Nebraska.so I will have to travel a bit to play. I've only been playing less than two years and I need some guidence on which division to sign up for when I do get to an event. Would it be better to go Novice or Advanced Senior Grandmaster? Thanks in advance---John M.

John,

Bill Griffith   September 3, 2016 at 9:41am

John, I am not sure what you mean by the 'players's list'. When you join the PDGA, just indicate that you are a member of the 50+ Club and you should get your discount. The division you play depends on your player rating and the competition in the event. If you have only been playing ... more

Rolf, I would suggest contacting Bill Griffith directly. I have tried to figure it our, using the links on the PDGA site.
Bill's article says to contact us directly, but I do not have the information on how he is handling joining during this initial phase.

I know that the goal is to have it be an option every year when you renew your PDGA membership. But for right now I suggest posting your desire here (like you have done) or contacting Bill Griffith directly.
