Every Tee Sponsor will receive a customized tee sign for life.
We will all meet at the Course on Friday June 2nd at noon for a cook out and play a round so everyone can pick out a tee.

Hey Northern Waters Series, I just moved to Grayling, MI in January and I was wondering why you don't have a tournament at Hanson Hills. After playing the Cadillac Tournament this past week and having played Kalkaska before I would assume that Hanson Hills would be a much better option as far as difficulty. It has been brought to my attention that two (2) baskets have been stolen from the Whitehall Township Disc Golf Course. Please be on the lookout for 2 Innova baskets. There will be a significant reward for information leading to the culprits. It happened sometime between Monday night and Wednesday am. If you saw anything suspicious, let me know. Please come and support the Grayling Rotary Club!! This is the organization that has introduced and funded the two AMAZING courses at Hanson Hills Recreation Area. This is a “Fundraiser Event”. All proceeds will go toward future community projects funded by the Grayling Rotary Club.

The tournament results here on DGS only have down that three people hit aces, and that they all got $70. I can see how that might make some people scratch their heads after having a $5 ace pool and no car.

We had 38 people enter on Saturday and 43 on Sunday for a total of 81X$5=$405. The choices that we gave the ace pool winners at the throw-off were to take the Chainstar basket or a) give the dealer 30 days to come up with a vehicle b) take $300 cash c) $1000 trade-in. Brian Buchholz won the throw off and elected to take the Chainstar. Ryan Nesbitt had his choice of a), b) and c) and chose to take the $300 cash (we also comped his entry fees for the rest of the season). The three of them then split half (a little more than half) of the $405 as was stipulated for $70 each. So for the $405 players paid in, we paid out $510 and a $388 basket while adding $195 to the skins rounds for qualified players.

Everyone would have preferred for that to have been $210 and a car and a basket, but as Zach said the dealership fell through. We are sorry that the car was not locked down in advance and that the results were not clearer before. Thanks again to everyone who helped make this such a great event.

Hey Mike. If you look at the post directly below yours, you'll see the Ace Pool rules for the event. This was posted on both registration pages here on DGS and also on our website. The only shady business that is going on here is the Car dealership stiffing us the day of. Next year we'll be sure to get the vehicle before advertising for it...so for that, all of the NWS staff is sorry for the fallout.

There isn't anything written in stone about how an ace pool is conducted. It is a side game and up to the person registering whether or not they want to get in. In fact, our ace pool even without the car was a higher value than the money put in. There was still time to get into the skins finals after HHO. If you played HHO, you could play the Sleeping Bear Summit and Bear River Rumble to get into Finals. 3 events and you are qualified.

If you run some numbers, I think you'd be pretty happy with what the HHO offered in terms of value to the players. $1000 added to the pro purses, CTP's for all divisions, the Ams made out like bandits with 150%+ payouts, trophies, 10m circles, and a manicured playing surface. Again, we're sorry for the car mishap, but I'm thinking we'll figure out a way to make it up to the players at next year's event.

Hit an ace at Hickory Hills Open, and you could win a Car, or a Chainstar basket!

Cost = $5.00

50% of the money goes into the ace pool payout, 50% of the money goes into the skins fund for the end of the year winners. The value of the car is estimated at $1,500 (THANK YOU Traverse Motors!). The value of the Chainstar is estimated at $400 (THANK YOU Tom Dillon).

If nobody hits an ace at HHO, the car will then go to our next event “Sleeping Bear Summit” in Maple City on July 24th.

If we have more than 1 ace, we will have a playoff on Sunday to determine the winner of the car. You must be present on Sunday to have a shot at winning the car. If you can’t attend the playoff, you will still get your share of the cash, but will lose out on the chance at a car. No “substitute shooters” allowed at the playoff. We will have a shorter tee for women & juniors to shoot from at the playoff. The ace pool payout will be as follows:


For easy explanation purposes, let’s say 80 players enter, for a total of $400. NWS automatically sets aside $200 for end-of-year skins match, leaving $200 left in the ace pool.

1 Ace: Winner gets car & $200
2 Aces: Winner gets car & $100, Runner-up gets Chainstar & $100
3 Aces: Winner gets car & $66.66, Runner-up gets Chainstar & $66.66, 3rd place gets $66.66
4 Aces: Winner gets car & $50, Runner-up gets Chainstar & $50, 3rd-4th places get $50 each
5 Aces: Winner gets car & $40, Runner-up gets Chainstar & $40, 3rd-5th places get $40 each
100 Aces: Winner gets car & $2, Runner-up gets Chainstar & $2, 3rd-100th places get $2 each

So-on and so-forth
