Ottawa Memorial Park Safari Disc Golf Event

Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Ottawa Memorial Park in Ottawa, Ohio
Disc golf singles tournament

About this tournament

The basic concept of Safari Disc Golf is to utilize an existing course but not play any of the permanent layout. For this event we will be using many of the permanent tee pads and baskets plus additional holes created with either natural tee pads or temp baskets. Since the normal layout is not being used, an example hole might be to throw from the #7 tee to the #8 basket.

Timeline: All times are estimates and subject to change pending speed of game play.
09:00 a.m. Registration
09:30 a.m. Players meeting
10:00 a.m. Tee Off—3 Player Scramble Round: This round will be a warm-up for the afternoon round. It will give everyone an opportunity to see the course. It will be played in a scramble style in teams of 3 players who will be chosen by random draw. There is a catch. The player whose disc is used can not throw from that lie. All players on each team will throw from the tee but if player A's drive is used, only Players B and C will make the second throw. If Player C's second throw is used, Players A and B will make the next throw, etc. The prizes for this round will be raffle tickets for a drawing later. If we have a number of players that is not divisible by 3 we will have a couple teams of 2 where the player whose disc is not used throws twice and the player whose disc is used throws once.
Noon Lunch—You will be responsible for your own lunch. Recommendation is to get fast food and bring it back to the park.
01:00 p.m. Raffle—Every player will get at least one raffle ticket plus a raffle ticket for every team they beat in the 3 Player Scramble Round. We will then raffle off 3 discs. For every ticket that is not drawn in the raffle each player will get a throw at a Closest To Pin for a disc.
01:15 p.m. Tee Off—Singles Round: The afternoon round will be played solo with one mulligan per hole. This is where the cash prizes will be awarded. We will play the same safari course as the morning round.
03:00 p.m. Award Ceremony
Course Map: Each group will have a course map with them to assist in navigating the Safari course. A few natural tees and temporary baskets are being used for a more unique experience so keep your eyes open for those.
Write Ins: 2 holes are being added to the course map because of a late decision to drop 2 holes that were not on park property. They both use existing tee pads and baskets so should be easy to find. [H17: T18 to B16] and [H18 : T11 to B09]
Wet plan: With the large amount of rain we had this week we may have to avoid some of the holes because of mud. If we decide to do this we will simply play Safari Holes 08 through 18 twice.

To register for this event, please leave your name and division choice in a message under "Talk" above.
