Old Airport Doubles - BYOP or CALI - Grand Opening Event

YAHOO - off and running ! Scores didn't matter, there were over 75 people that showed up for the Grand Opening of Old Airport Disc Golf Course and the best part, 60 or more had never played disc golf, 5 players arrived on bicycles because they were all under 12 years old, there were new players over 70 years old and even two beginners that came from as far away as Grand Rapids (the course designer's sister & niece) and in the end, whomever had the most fun was the winner. That certainly must be Ron Peludat. Thank You Ron. Kaylee Campbell won the CTP on hole 7, Brent Faubert parked hole 1 for the CTP and unfortunately daylight prohibited 20 holes but 18 were fun and let's do it again soon with an earlier start, maybe even with tee pads ? All of the City Officials were on hand and donated most everything for the event. Officer Jason (Sparky) cooked up the grits and prizes and gifts went to all in attendances. A HUGE THANKS to Pat Killingbeck and the City of AuGres for following a vision. Thanks to Freeland & Chippewa Banks Disc Golf Clubs, their donations included 10 disc that went to the young players on hand, thanks.

If you can be there tomorrow, here is the plan. Remember, you may play cali or bring your own partner. First place gets 75%, second place 25% of the $15.00 per team entry. Daylight will most likely restrict us to 18 holes (we'll play 20 if possible) so be there and ready to play at 5:45. All players will start on holes 10 through 19 and play ALL of these woods holes first, then returning to hole 20 through 7. We will only play holes 8 & 9 if there is enough daylight but most likely not. ... more

All ties will be settled on hole 7 with 1 toss each for the CTP (cali players get 2 throws against partners, if all ties are cali teams, 1 shot each). CTP rules are slightly different, PLEASE read... any metal at all, post included and the throw hitting metal will be considered as touching the base of the post. If there is again a tie, each player gets 1 additional tie breaker shot on the same hole. At approximately 5:45, guests and casual players at the grand opening will be invited to accompany course designer Ron Peludat for some disc golfing introduction while walking and trowing holes 1 through 7 as time allows. Also, any guest to the grand opening will be invited to join the tournament players as spectators while they play holes 10 through 19. Bring your best shots and help Ron and AuGres show off their efforts. Option A - pay $15.00 per team or hot shot cali (no bank) players. Option B - just show up anytime throughout the day for casual play, stay for the hotdogs and prizes and play doubles for prizes or for fun... Monday September 23rd, 2013 is a Grand Opening Ceremony for the Old Airport DGC in AuGres, MI. The details of the ceremony and tournament follows - At 5:00pm the city will do a welcome and give some thank you's to contributors, developers and volunteers. A brief explanation and demo of disc golf will follow. Hot dogs are being cooked by the AuGres Police Chief from 5:00 until 6:30 or so. The city will be giving away some prizes (t-shirt, hoodie, gift certificate for camping) in a drawing, all in attendance can enter, need not to be present to win. The EVENT - $15.00 per team or cali player. Bring your own partner or show off your stuff playing no bank cali. First place pays 75% of the entry, second place gets 25%. There will be donated prizes, hopefully every entrant will win something. Registration ends at 4:55, tee off at 5:45.
