Paul, I was looking at volunteering this year, but due to some unfortunate turn of events I couldn't go. Anyway even if you don't qualify, they are always looking volunteers for the event as spotters. They put them on all the holes and pay you in plastic for your time. 1 disc per hour you work plus they include your lunch for volunteering. Now they did say that they would take volunteers that would put in the most time first, i.e. someone who would work 3 days first over someone who could only work 1. Email the contact person and he will email you back any info you need to know

Well, Am Nationals is the best AM1 tournament in the nation, while MAO is the best 2 days of Amateur Golf for all levels of play. Their player pack is huge, they feed you Friday night, Saturday, & Sunday. Throwing off those hills, I bet you could throw 400'. You can always play in the on site qualifier. I do not think they filled this year...

The winner this year was 947 rated.

Thanks Josh and Mark. I would love to play Am Nats, but of course I'm not AM1 level... maybe another year, but unfortunately I think I'm too old to get much better at this game (i.e. I'll never throw 400ft).

The exact % of qualifiers is TBD and it probably will not be before the event per Am Nationals staff. So, if you want an Amateur Nationals berth, you MUST play AM1.

The top 15-20% of Am1 participants receive an invite to the USADGC (only certain tournaments are qualifiers though). Look on USADGC.com for a list of last years events.

Can you tell us more about what it means to be a 2013 Am Nats Qualifier? If you win your division, you are qualified... or if you shoot a particularly high rated round?

MAO is now a 2013 Am Nationals Qualifier...

I will create a waitlist later tonight. Word of caution. The field sets June 22nd at 10pm. If anyone is still on the waitlist at that time, they will not be added to the event even if there are spaces due to a last minute cancellation. With so many things going on, tournament staff will not be working on any new registrations the morning of the event.

We are working of the possability of an additional course to add to the 2013 MAO to accommodate additional players. Thank you all for your support of the event, the club, & the TD...

There was not anything magical about that number so I would urge people to play what they wanted to play. I cannot say if we will be me or not. Switching would insure nothing at all. Think you misunderstood my response...

Any AM2's that would like to move up so we could have a full 20 (enough for a 2013 Am Nats qualifier)? Cahill, Evan, Lehr?

Mark, anything you'd like to offer me, I'll accept gladly. I pride myself on being the kickoff registered. Can't wait for my redemption at this tournament
