Meijer State Games of Michigan - Winter Games 2015
About this tournament
This will be the first year for disc golfers to get out and show their support of the All Season Sport that Spinski's and the Grand Rapids Dogs of Disc love to provide, by participating in the Meijer State Games of Michigan Winter Games. Spinski's will be helping to host the 2015 Amateur Worlds event and here is your opportunity to get a sneak peak into the hard work that course owner/designer, Jon Tylzynski, and others have put in.
Winter Games is considered an Olympic style event held in multiple states. Michigan has hosted both Winter Games and Summer Games over the last few years and has seen immense growth, both in sports and participants, due to the hard work put in by the Meijer State Games of Michigan and West Michigan Sports Commission crews. Grand Rapids Dogs of Disc has been blessed to offer Disc Golf as an event during the Summer Games over the last 3 years, and is now offering Winter Games for those disc golfers who aren't deterred from playing during the winter season.
Follow the link to the tournament website to see a full listing of the events offered and to get registered for the event. You may also utilize the talk section here for cashless pre-registration, but using the ClearThunder Registration system is preferred.
Opening Ceremonies for the Meijer State Games of Michigan Winter Games are being held at Cannonsburg Ski and Ride Area, 6800 Cannonsburg Rd, Belmont, MI 49306 and start at 7PM (through 7:30PM). Last minute registration technically will be held from 4PM - 6:45PM on Friday 2/20/2015 at Cannonsburg. Amateur registration cost is $40, and Pro is $50.
Players package is the newly release Plasma Ion with the Winter Games stamp (thank you Niel Stoppa for working on the artwork and MVP for waiving the die costs) For those players that did not register through the ClearThunder site, you may still prepay tonight and still have the opportunity to purchase 1 of 7 first run Plasma Ion discs.
CAUTION: The snow is fluffy and deep enough to reach your waist. Ribbon is highly recommended. There will be some available on site at the course provided by Spinksi's.
Disclaimer: The settings of this tournament may be changed to include or remove information that is missing or inaccurate. Tournaments are listed to provide you with disc golf pleasure throughout the year. Your attendance is greatly appreciated and will hopefully be rewarded. A minimum of 3 players is preferred and requested per division. Accommodations will be made to best match a player's preference if there aren't enough participants for their division.
