Tournaments like this discourage my faith in the PDGA ratings system. Round 1 ratings are low but round 2 is embarrassingly low. My estimate is that -8, maybe -7 is a 1000 rated for Rd 1. Matt Toy's -7 2nd round looked like 1030 or better golf to me. The conditions were some of the worst I've ever played in and he somehow found a way to make birdies. That would make -3 a 1000 rated for Rd 2. Get the top rated pros in the world at Cadillac this past weekend and you'd see what I'm talking about. 15 point difference in round 1 and 30 points difference in Rd 2 from what is currently posted.

Epic tournament at Kenwood! Payouts were great! Hang on to your FunnyMoney for the next NWS event - hopefully they dried on the heaters on the way home! I'm sure we've all seen worse at some point, but wow!! Thanks everyone who came out, and for those great guys who cleared the tee pads! :) I'm glad y'all liked the trophies! <3 HOPEFULLY they weren't too water logged! They are Sedums - two to three different kinds in each pot, and can eventually be planted ... more

Extra Thanks To Mike Stump, Kyle Williams, Dave Vanlente and any others who helped in advance of our event to make sure tee pads were clear. Even in the horrible weather the tee pads were wonderful making it safe for us to throw. You guys rock! With Support like that, it really helps us run our events! see ya'll soon

That's a nice payout for Kyles Ace!!!!!
If I ever win the lotto, I will Sponor do a $100,000 ace pool. Kyles ace was only worth $100. I wondered who would catch it. Good eye Nick and nice Win as well!

just took a walk through the back holes.. all pads are clear except 11R & #9.. both will be finished this afternoon.. deepest snow is on 7 & 8 fairways and around #9 tee at about 12" and that should decrease a bunch today.. getting better by the minute with 60 deg. temps.

Course is getting there lost a j bird roc on 8 if any one finds it ill buy it back
Agree. I also think if more top players were in this state regularly you would see a lot more higher rated MI golfers.
it makes me sad. I feel like the only way to get to 1000 is go on tour. Thats going to be hard with a job and kids.
Stop holding events at courses like that would help... Dinky suece or die are rating killers
Ratings are overrated. Too many variables.
I think when you estimate your ratings you focus too much on how the pros shoot and not enough on the rest of the field. I think when you estimate your ratings you focus too much on how the pros shoot and not enough on the rest of the field. If you average the round ratings for the whole field of current players, the average player outperformed their rating in the first round by 1 point and underperformed in the second round by 1.5 points. I agree that -7 in those conditions probably should be a better rating, but it suffers from being an outlier where the next two best rounds were a 980 and a 964.
Jamie don't be dissin my home course yo! Throwdown time! hahahahaha
To base expected ratings off of what the pros shoot it needs to be a course with scoring separation
Cal is right, and yeah I agree Jamie, I still love my practice course though.
Thank you Kyle.
I love ratings and i love cadillac, I just prolly think I am better than I really am and ratings expose the truth to me.
I've got to add that ratings from sat. were probably reflective of the day. At least for me. My second round score, while not great was relatively close to players that normally score much lower than me. Did I handle the last 2 hours of weather better? maybe. It was reflected in a round rating ... more
I've got to add that ratings from sat. were probably reflective of the day. At least for me. My second round score, while not great was relatively close to players that normally score much lower than me. Did I handle the last 2 hours of weather better? maybe. It was reflected in a round rating 40+ higher than my rating. Same would happen in good weather if I shot a low score closer to those with higher ratings. BTW, there is score sepseration, even at Kenwood.
If I would of made those 10 100 foot putts my rating would of been higher too. Way to throw those long ones.
i also was bummed to find out the ratings...thought it was def a little off considering the conditions
