Disc golf singles tournament
About this tournament
(I'd change the name on the description above but Disc Golf Scene won't let me lol)
NO WIMPS! NO WHINERS!
Bring out your snowshoes or your muck boots. Who knows what we are going to get in mid January here in Southwestern Michigan. This unsanctioned event is supporting the North Berrien County Food pantry in with player registration fees. We will also be taking donations in the forms of cash or non perishable food items on site the day of the tournament. Minimum of 4 players to create a division and a cashless signup has been created here on the board. If you would like to see another divisiion added feel free to post the request in the "talk" part of this event. Check back often as details will be added as they become available.
Format is simple - 9 holes from the short tees and 9 holes from the long tees with an optional doubles round afterward. Doubles round will have a small cash buy in and will be cash payout. Sign up for cashless registration here. Fee is $20 per player regardless of division and is due the day of the event. Cash for open winner and plastic for ametuer divisions. NO PLAYERS PACK!
We are always looking for sponsors for this event for the prize packages to bring in more players and thus more money for the food bank. Possible donations include, cash, matching donations, discs or even gift cards to local businesses.
Should the weather take a turn (as in blizzard) information will be posted here and an alternate date set. less

FYI...We raised $250 today for the North Berrien food pantry today along with A LOT of food. Thanks again to all those that cleared the tee boxes, Essential discs for all the plastic and glass mugs and also Andrew Menz for the CTP and ring of fire prizes. That turned out great!

Tee pads are shoveled and we are ready to play be it raining/snowing or not. Hope to see everyone in the morning.

IMPORTANT NOTES HERE: - Please keep in mind that this tourney is meant to be fun and raise money and food for a charity. This is not going to be a hyper-serious ultra competitive play for world championship event. Also, much of the registration fees are going to go to the food pantry so payouts are going to be low and there may or may not be a players pack - we're working on that. So please remember that it's for a good cause! - We will take any non-perishable food items the day of ... more

- Parking - I will try to convince the City to plow out the parking lot at Flaherty. I can't say that it's going to happen for sure. If it doesn't, park in the lot due north of the (now closed) Beaches and Cream at 366 North Main Street and either use the staircase to the east of the lot to get down or walk around to Butternut. I could use some help on Saturday morning making that staircase passable - let me know.

Since this is not an official Ice Bowl I would suggest changing the name so as to not get in trouble with the people who run the ice bowl events.

Is this event being advertised anywhere else besides here?

Essential Discs will be donating prizes for this event. If you want to register me on the scene I will pay the day of and bring the loot!

Have you considered the possibility of stretching this to 4 rounds of 9? A 36 hole tourney vs. 18 seems much more desirable, and the norm.
