Again, thanks to all who participated, and especially to those who volunteered in some form to help it run smoothly. Discraft has officially received PDGA approval for the disc. Discraft has officially received PDGA approval for the disc. All Ace Race discs are legal to use in any PDGA-sanctioned disc golf tournament.

The name of the disc is the Zombee. The logo is pretty cool, I'll try to add it to the pictures section. It follows the recent trend of naming most discs with a stinging-insect theme (buzzz, hornet, wasp, etc.).

Zombee Want CHAAAAINS!

The 2012 Ace Race disc is now the Discraft Zombee, and it wants CHAAAAINS! Zombee isn't especially fast, but it is relentless in pursuit of its basket victims, moving in a straight line with added glide toward its prey. Zombee joins the Discraft hive as a utility driver with a 1.0 stability rating.

No date has been set for release to retailers, but all copies of the disc including Ace Race protos are now tournament legal.

As Bill "The Ninja" Savage mentioned to me, if Lorain County Metroparks comes aboard, it may help open things up in other communities who have been a little slow to embrace the sport. Lorain County Metro Parks is working on their 10 year plan, and the assistant director is psyched about disc golf in possibly 2 or more of the 26 parks in the system. Her name is Jennifer and can be reached at [email disguise] if you would like to encourage their efforts! This is an unprecedented opportunity here because of the timing (developing 10 year plan now) and the enthusiastic support of Jennifer! If not now, could be 2023 before we have an opportunity like this again. Help this message go viral in Ohio! They are looking to make Lorain parks a destination for out of towners. I bet you'd spend a lot more time in Lorain County if they had more disc golf courses!

BTW, Lorain county's only permanent course is looking sweeter all the time- 18 holes (original 9 upgraded + back 9 added) and concrete tees brand new fall of 2012! Findley State Park, south of Wellington on state rt 58- check out all the hard work put in by Tim Krosse, Adam Selzer, Steve and Gina Devereaux, others I don't know of I'm sure, and the State Park staff- THANKS!

*** NOTE - Someone left an umbrella (green/blue/white) in the shelter. I took it home with me. Just let me know who and we'll figure out how to return it to ya.

2. 50/50 CTP contest. OPEN TO ANYONE, INCLUDING NON-PLAYERS. You do not need to use the Ace Race disc for this contest. $1 per throw or 5 for $3. Closest to the pin, or if multiple aces, all participants with an ace hit will get a final throw-off for the win. Winner gets half the pot, with the other half going to the park for additional funding for the course installation & improvements.

Anyone willing to bring a basket to use as a temp hole, please let me know, and bring it! I have a number of contingent temp holes I can put into play. Packages arrived today. They are pretty sweet. The weights are all in the 170s (several 177+, several 175-176, and about 10 174), and the colors only range from yellow to orange to red. Not certain of the exact time yet, but I am anticipating 9 to noon being the likely timeframe. If you can come, bring a garbage bag or two and any equipment that you can lend to the situation. They can include wheelbarrows, cutting equipment (saws, etc.), digging equipment (we may work additionally on the ... more

Kevin - I would appreciate your inclusion of your basket, and if you can get another one, even better. I was expecting two from someone who I don't believe signed up.

Unfortunately, I do not have any extra packages ordered, and I don't anticipate enough demand that I could place a re-order for additional packs (where some players loan one of their two discs to another for the tourney), as I would need a minimum reorder of 10.

I will post notice if I end up with an extra on the off-chance.

Played the course today. Very nice design and has potential for another 9. A nice mix of shots. I did send a DX Boss in the water by the sixth hole. If ya find it hang onto it. I can't throw it. Ha
