About this tournament
Several local leagues and clubs are teaming up to host this Ace Race event:
(Ypsi Dubs, Local 101, 24 Chains, A3 Disc Golf, Night Moose, the Farm House, WC Glow … all clubs and players are welcomed….)
We will have the great room of the Lodge at Rolling Hills in case of bad weather and to ensure everyone can enjoy lunch together in comfort.
Modified Ace Race layout: an assortment of fun and new shots on most of the existing holes and some extra holes to make an exciting 24 hole Ace Race course.
Payout: 100%+ Payout – all money, donated discs and items will be awarded at this event.
Cash payout for Aces.
Could exceed $1000 cash payout for Aces based on participation.
Cost: $20, $5 off if you bring a disc for Dots, $5 off if you bring a dish (food) to share. so the cost could be as low as $10 per player. Post on the Talk section on what you plan to bring. Have Mom bake an extra Pumpkin pie or it’s a great way to clear out those Thanksgiving leftovers ;-)
Disc – bring a “Primo” disc ( new with no name or oldie but goodie)
If no Aces are hit (not very likely) then there will be a throw off with the top three winners will be paid out.
Optional day long CTP
*** Note the Bikers (MMBA) will be having their annual Black Friday Ride and our schedules have been coordinated to allow both groups to use the lodge throughout the day and allowing both groups to enjoy the facilities.

I'd also like to say thanks to 24 Chains, A3, the Farm House, Local 101, Night Moose, Washtenaw Glow & Ypsi Dubs for supporting this Cooperative Ace Race. Steve Waite, Crista and Rolling Hills park - The use of the Lodge was huge - THANKS
Matt Schooley made all the signs. Ron Howard besides starting this whole idea worked with Matt to put out the extra baskets, place the signs and alternate tee pads before everyone arrived. Kyle and Matt picked them up. Jake Schooley and Foz took care of registration and messing up the Ace payout ;-) Jay Adamski help with food (Great Chili) and general cordination. Everyone help with the Dot Disc kaos. Luna Disc with some great donations to the Dot awards. TAGDA as well. OG with a Growler and gift card. The ThrowShop as always helping to add to the fun. All in all a great cooperative effort for a great day of Ace runs with Friends and Family - THANKS!!
If you have suggestions please let us know so we can improve on it and grow this event next year - Black Friday 2013 - Mark your calendars, save a few discs and learn to cook something edible ;-)
I had a few players mention the holes were to long. Now the weather added to the experience being a true transition event from Fall to Winter with 20+ mile an hour winds all day, colder temps and some snow flurries during the afternoon round. But if I look at the stats we had 8 Aces, all were on different holes, with at least 37 almost aces (Dots). This made the Ace Payout (once caculated correctly) $135 per Ace. They some how got an extra $5 during the payout correction (missing Score cards) but we felt they deserved it - Nice Shots guys:
Ben Calhoun Hole 5
Chilly Chillson Hole 3
Doakata ROCkafellow Hole 8
Jeremy "Perm" Kemp Hole 15
Kirk "Luna" Haggadone Hole 11
Mike Raley Hole 7
Sam Smith Hole 2
Scott Ransley Hole ?
There were 93 Dot discs collected and 37 dots hit. Nice Shooting - better luck next time for some cash but a DOT got you 2 discs and a Double DOT got you 5. Hope you like the new plastic or items - there was something interesting for everyone on the table - Enjoy
Seven players hit the max dots for the day of 2 DOTS:
Kirk "Luna" Haggadone
Tim "Jub Jub" Gacioch
Twenty Two hit 1 DOT
Derrick "D-Drop" Dropulich
Mark "Coach" Perrine
Thanks for all the cooperation - hope everyone enjoyed the event - let us know your ideas and comments for an even better event next year.
Hope to see everyone at a Winter league round soon. Get your MiCPS-W 2013 points and enjoy the Winter rounds.

I lied. I have to work tomorrow. I'm out. I'd rather be disc golfing! Have fun y'all!

I like the way you think Fred. At Rolling Hills we will be limited on time as the park closes at dusk but we should have plenty of time....
Fred Vocino November 21, 2012 at 10:32am
You are quite right, Foz. People should be OK with large groups. I recall that last year in Troy people self selected, making cards from 4 to 8. Nobody cared, as there was plenty of daylight. Sunset may matter here, and closer sizes may be suggested.

Great Ben - see yeah Black Friday - I hope your bringing Sarah. Jayne - Fully understand the work situation and how that makes it hard to make it out and especially find time to make a dish to pass. The key is that you make it out - look around and see if you have an extra Dot Disc to get the full $10 off - my diet can always use a bit more plastic. Fred - Thanks for looking around - you know you got something somewhere that you have not throw in eons and it's probably just the thing some ... more

Fred - Thanks for looking around - you know you got something somewhere that you have not throw in eons and it's probably just the thing someone else has been looking for. One player's Trunk Trash is another player's Ace Disc.
Ok so maybe I was a little optimistic about 300 players or maybe I was just being a bit silly - Naaaaah. 44 / 300 + the off the grid gang = 50 to 100 players. If we actually got 300 we would cooperatively find a way to get everyone through two rounds, with reasonable group sizes - heck it's just one throw per player per hole - it goes really quick and if we were shooting for an Ace pool of between $3000 and $6000 I think everyone would be willing to chill and hang with friends for a few extra minutes - Hell I'll just hang with Jay Adamski's Chilli and Jason Cassidy Grandma's Apple Pie - what a problem to have 300 Ace shooting fools on Black Friday - one day soon......
As it is we will most likely have groups of 4 on a card and hell yes you can bribe me to make your card, SHHHH just don't let anyone know...
Actually that detail has not been released yet. We have to wait and see what the final total is but that will be part of the exciting news delivered during the players meeting or during registration.
OH several players have conveyed that they can't make it for the whole day, both rounds, due to work, family, surgery or mental illness and we full understand especially the last part. The important thing is that you add to the ace pool/// no/// I mean you come out and spend some quality time with your disc golf family. If you can only make it out for one round then let us know, pay half and at least you get 24 Ace shots, some DOT discs but none of Grandma's apple pie. We'll make sure your winnings get to you or are put to good use ;-)
