About this tournament

The Trilogy Challenge is your opportunity to help promote the sport of disc golf. Dynamic Discs, Latitude 64°, and Westside Discs are excited to bring you the opportunity to host or play in a Trilogy Challenge in 2015! After a very successful first year in 2014, 2015 is looking to be even better. Our goal is to gain better visibility of the sport and to get more new players involved. We're keeping the entry fee the same at $30 and players will again receive everything they need to play disc golf.

Players are only allowed to use the three discs they receive in their player pack and if they lose a disc during the round, they must finish the round without it. The Trilogy Challenge is a worldwide event from May 29th to September 20th that concludes with the Trilogy Öppna in Emporia, Kansas on September 19th-20th.

Saturday, June 6th, 48 intrepid disc golfers participated in Sumter
County's first ever Trilogy Challenge. This international event is unique
in that it asks Players to compete while using three brand new discs,
discs that the Players have never even seen before! After stocking up on
cold water bottles, the Players headed off to complete the 18-basket
course at the Rec Department Sports Complex on Highway 19 South. Just
about three hours later, all the results had been tabulated and the awards
handed out. All together 17 Prize were awarded as well as 6 trophies.
The big winners were in the Junior (under 18) Division, where each Player
received two new discs and a small disc bag. Next were the Novice Ladies
who each also took home two new discs while the winner of that division
additionally took home a large disc bag. Both Experienced Ladies took
home a disc while the top 5 men in each of the Novice and Experienced
Divisions each took home a disc, a shirt or a disc stool. The First Place
Trophy winners in each Division were:

Juniors - Will Franklin - who shot a 9 over par, 63
Novice Ladies - Laura Fendley - who shot an 11 over par, 65
Experienced Ladies - Debra Hughes - who shot an 18 over par, 72
Novice Men - Bill Bowser - who shot 4 under par with a 50
Experienced Men - Mike Griner - who went 7 under par with his 47

Mike Griner also receieved the Trophy Disc as the overall winner with his
impressive score.
All of the Players wished to convey their appreciation to the Americus
Visitor Center for the generous goodie bags provided to each Player, to
the Sumter County Recreation Department for the beautiful condition of the
course and to local restaurant The Roman Oven Pizzeria for providing lunch
at a discount for the Players.

The course at the Sports Complex has never looked better, so anyone in the
area who might be interested in disc golf should take this opportunity to
check out this wonderful local resource.
