Campgaw Ice Bowl 2011

Just got home from playing all 18 holes. The tees are all melted. A couple are a bit muddy, but not too bad.

There is a little snow, a little ice, and a bit of mud. Forecast calls for rain Sunday, but what do they know? They sure blew the forecast the last weekend I tried to run this.

Ice Bowl is ON!

I have rescheduled the Ice Bowl for Sunday, March 6th.

Everything else remains the same:

Registration: 8:00-8:45
Player’s Meeting: 8:45
Round 1: 9:00
Lunch
Round 2
Awards

Pro: $35
Ams: $25

Hopefully the course will be safer and play more fairly by then.

I checked out Campgaw today. With the melt from the last couple days, the snow isn't as deep as it was Saturday at Warwick. Maybe 8-10" on average, a bit deeper closer to the ski hill.

The forecast calls for rain tonight and less than half an inch of snow tomorrow. Sunny and cold for the rest of the week. 42º and sunny for Sunday!

What this all means is we are on for Sunday!

I also talked to the ski hill manager--he's going to set up a tent and table for us for registration.

Parking: You will need to park in the employee lot, and a shuttle runs continuously. We'll put up signs indicating where to park, and you'll need to put a parking sign on your dashboard, which you can get from the shuttle driver.

We are now officially sanctioned by the PDGA as a C-Tier event! I believe this is the first PDGA event of the year for the NEFA area.

Sunday, February 13th

This Ice Bowl will be unlike any other ice Bowls in the area. I will be TD'ing this and running it as a service project for the National Honor Society at Indian Hills High School in Oakland, NJ where I teach. Campgaw Ice Bowl—PDGA C-Tier Event
Sunday, February 13th

This Ice Bowl will be unlike any other ice Bowls in the area. I will be TD'ing this and running it as a service project for the National Honor Society at Indian Hills High School in Oakland, NJ where I teach. There will be close to 50 NHS kids helping to raise funds, collect food, help run the tournament, provide lunch, and anything else I can think of them to do (within the confines of reason, decency and safety) to make this an amazing event.

I am thinking about ways to make this a very different Ice Bowl experience. If my students do most of the fundraising, we can focus more on playing a great golf tournament, interesting players packages, good payouts, etc. Of course we’d like your generous contributions, too.

We're planning on supplying food to all players. You're welcome to bring extra food, but the NHS is going to supply hot lunch (baked ziti or something like that) for all players and NHS students are going to bring baked goods, bagels, snacks, bottled water, coffee and other beverages. You all should be well taken care of.

This will be a PDGA C-Tier Event! I've filled out the online PDGA sanctioning agreement and just paid them--we should be on the PDGA schedule soon.
