I would like to give special thanks to each and every one of the 11 players that came out in the driving rain, waited out the lightning, and fought with a tenacity only found in the most dedicated of disc golf players. Without you guys, Spinlab would be an afterthought. Well, after some stiff competition, we have a Grand Prix Champion in Wade Sullivan, with Steve Blink coming in at a hard fought second, and Rob Draves in a valiant fight taking up the third place spot. I hope all of our players from yesterday are in good health and have recovered well from the rain and cold, though I'm sure most of you guys are used to Michigan disc golf weather. Once I figure out the best way to post achievements for the match play format, they will go up, it shouldn't be more than a couple of days.

This event concludes the 2012 Spinlab tournament season, it would not have been such a successful year if it weren't for the tenacity of our players, the generosity of our sponsors, and the support of the local disc golf community. I will be making regular trips to Knollwood for the rest of the park season and have plenty of discs left for sale. Metal Flake Katanas and Mambas, Glow CFR Sidewinders and Archons, CFR Teedevils, Blizzard Wraiths, and Star Ontario Rocs are all 15 bucks, while R Pro Rocs are 12, KC Pro Glow Aviars and R Pro Aviars are 10. We also have a good selection of Gateway Putters including the new superglow Magic and Voodoo for $12 that can glow for up to 1 hours on a single charge, and several Wizards of different types for $10.

WooHoo that was a fun tournament. I love that format! When can we expect to see achievements on our boards? Thanks again to Corey Nufer for organizing fun events like this at Knollwood and manning the clean-up out there month after month.

1st, addressing Wade's issue, I have brackets set up for 16 to 32 players that take care of the problem.

@Samuel Giese, we'll probably be done around 3 or 4 hopefully.

First round will eliminate 10 players if there are 20 regd. Second round will eliminate 5, half of 10, the remaining players. 5 players remaining only 3 will get paid. 20 player field a maximum of five rounds to determine first place. I believe..

so if i win the point on one and we are even on the rest until 18 and my opponent birdies that he wins because the last hole is worth more than my hole one win even though we both only won a single hole each?

Update on the weather situation, it looks like we're going to get around a half inch of rain tomorrow with a possibility of some thunder in the afternoon. Based on this report, it looks like we'll have decent conditions for the tournament tomorrow.

For those looking to practice up a little bit today with the match play format, here's how it goes, each hole is worth 1 point, if one player finishes the hole in fewer strokes than the other, they win the point for that hole. If bo ... more

Update on the weather situation, it looks like we're going to get around a half inch of rain tomorrow with a possibility of some thunder in the afternoon. Based on this report, it looks like we'll have decent conditions for the tournament tomorrow.

For those looking to practice up a little bit today with the match play format, here's how it goes, each hole is worth 1 point, if one player finishes the hole in fewer strokes than the other, they win the point for that hole. If both players have the same amount of strokes on a single hole, that point is carried over to the next hole and that hole is worth 2 points. For example, we both birdie hole 2, so hole 3 is worth two points.

I will be placing everyone's name in a hat and drawing your match ups in front of the entire tournament group, in the event of an uneven number of people, or a number of people that don't work in a straight bracket, there will be one or more people that get a "buy" for the first round. I am using a standard 16-32 player bracket that allows for seeding if necessary. Unfortunately, I could not get a trophy disc in time for the tourney, but a nice little player pack is yours upon your exit from the tournament.

If anyone has any other questions about the tournament, or if you would like to purchase a 2012 Knollwood Grand Prix disc, I will be at Knollwood for a good portion of the afternoon. I am sure there will be a few participants out there today getting some practice in, and I would definitely suggest doing so if it is possible.

It has just come to my attention that there is a possibility of thunderstorms on Saturday during the tournament. In the event of lightning, the tournament will be postponed until the next Saturday, October 20th. Of course, this being Michigan, it is a possibility that it will turn into a perfect, sunny day, so lets all hope for the best!
