No name or number slight down hill in a small fairway in the woods, idk first time playin course

Andrew Myers   March 22, 2016 at 3:39pm

Ya I think that's 11

Andrew Myers   March 22, 2016 at 6:33pm

Hey no, you're right. It is nine. It used to be hole eleven with the old layout, which was much better.

Robert Kraut    March 12, 2016 at 6:04am

Is this course worth driving 35 minutes to play?

I live 10 minutes from there and won't play there. Absolutely awful.

Robert Kraut   March 12, 2016 at 9:06am

Thanks for the input guys, FireFighters it is.

Ben Jackson   March 17, 2016 at 10:45am

I go to school here and play it only once in a while. It's usually bad conditions from overgrowth alone (even before the redesign). Firefighters, Addison, Seymour, etc are all better than this. It's still better than civic center though.

Lost a burgundy metal flake gator couple weeks back.. Pretty sure it has my # in it like all my discs nice to get it back..

Left a White Challenger there 2 weeks ago. Reward for return. likely near 18/1

What a waste. The school would have benefited more if they took a tax write-off from donating the baskets to a venue with space and a course designer who knows what the hell they are doing. The only good things left about this course are the baskets and a few of the original holes (which need a ton of trim work) that didn't get half their fairways taken over by poorly placed new holes.
Hole 3 is what happens when the designer forgets to remove their head from their ass before planning a co ... more

Eric Dusten   October 22, 2015 at 9:45pm

It for sure wasnt designed by a disc golfer. Even a casual disc golfer would know better. I'll play it because its close and never busy. But what a shame & ridiculous pin and tee placements. I hope this is just temporary. At least river bends is mowed i hear.

Eric McCahill    October 1, 2015 at 1:24am

Blue C line PD was left by hole 11 basket today while looking for orange x XL that went deep and left, name and number on both, reward for return.

Eric McCahill   September 30, 2015 at 5:27pm

PD was picked up after 12:30, whenever the next group went through most likely around 1 or after..

Andy Bawol    September 20, 2015 at 4:19am

Someone is going to get seriously hurt somewhere between 12 and 17 unless they make some changes. It's not a matter of if but when. Whoever said they should have used that bowl is right. Standing on 17 I just wanted to throw backwards into. Readymade hole right there.

The holes you remember aren't even close to the same since everything has been growing unchecked and no ones been on the course.

Brandon Redmond   September 20, 2015 at 8:06am

Not even close to the designs they were, then?

Andy Bawol   September 20, 2015 at 10:18am

The basic structure is there but a lot of lines are gone. They need a couple of hours of trim work.

Jason Riberas    September 18, 2015 at 3:38am

Found a disc today while playing the new redesign. Found it on hole 3. Tell me what it is and I'll give it back to you.

Good of you to make an attempt to get it back Jason. If I found a disc with no contact info, I wouldn't even try. No contact info means you don't want it back IMO.

Jason Riberas   September 21, 2015 at 9:06pm

the disc is a star destroyer but it is not a pre avery. Does your buddy have a nickname on his disc and wha color is it?

David Tomlinson   September 21, 2015 at 9:24pm

It probably says mike cook. he said its pinkish.

Course update: 9-16-15
So i just got done playing a round on the newly redesigned course. The layout of the holes is as follows.

Hole 1: Plays on the old hole 4. Tee pad is by the tree that was about half way down the old fairway. Same pin location.
Hole 2: Plays off the old hole 5 tee pad. Pin is up hill and right after the gap.
Hole 3: Tee pad is left of the tree gap from 2. Pin is in the location of old hole 5.
Hole 4: Plays off the old hole 6 with the pad and pin in the same locations ... more

I moved up to here and started building courses out here where there were none. not butthurt though Sadkins. you're an okay guy too. just spreading the dg love to all. Mark Jankowski    September 16, 2015 at 12:56am

Found this article. Says the course is completed and also says where to park. Looks like the course starts in a different area. https://www.oakland.edu/view_news.aspx?sid=34&nid=12400

Looks like it starts on old 4. Parking is in the same lot as before (P11). Nice.

David Tomlinson   September 15, 2015 at 9:21pm

Do you know if all the signs are up?

Tony T    September 14, 2015 at 8:39pm

Walked the course, and all 18 baskets are in again. Different layout, and not really sure just how it goes yet. Maybe basket/tee numbers to come? Also, not sure where to park - can park in the previous location, but a decent walk to even get to hole 16(?) and no real opening. Previous hole 4 looks to be hole 1 now? Course has been mowed, so possible to play. Let us know if you get more info.

Hey Matt, 14 / 18 baskets are in. Mowed and playable but officially "unfinished". No signs of where final 4(?) holes are going. Me and a couple other guys have played the course on lunch break a few times in the last month or so since it was cut.

Tony T   August 18, 2015 at 1:04pm

Just walked the course. Been mowed maybe once or twice this summer. Tee pads for 15 and 16 are gone, so looks like they're rerouting some holes to get back to 18? Supposed to be done by "mid- to late-summer 2015." I'll probably get there at lunch soon.

Jon Londer    July 21, 2015 at 5:04am

Is this course playable yet ? Anyone know?

Confirmed today: The same 13 or 14(?) holes are there - no new holes yet or signs of where the new ones will be..

Jeff Novak   July 22, 2015 at 4:38pm

Roger that. I was going to check it out today but will wait for the other 5 to go in. Hope it doesn't take too long.

Eric McCahill    June 18, 2015 at 5:31am

Course update as of 6-12-15: Most baskets are in at OU. Someone at the school said they are working on 5 holes that are not ready yet. Course is open but not very playable as of 6-12-15 due to being extremely overgrown. Grass is knee / waist-high through the whole course. Tee pads look phenomenal - they're rubberized with running track material and in very good shape. Baskets are A+, newer Chainstars(?), ready to get smashed as soon as the school cuts the grass and makes the course playable. Can't wait...

Miles Lawrence   June 19, 2015 at 4:12pm

I walked the course yesterday. (didnt know you made this post). Holes 1-3, 17&18 are no longer there. Hole 4s tee pad is about mid way down the fairway of what was the old layout. Hole 5s basket was removed but i draged an extra one laying on the ground over, hole is shorter now. Hole 6s tee pad ... more

So is this course actually up yet? and where is located now, last summer I would drive around campus not seeing anything and always was told to go back into this dead end past a huge open field/hill that seemed to be under construction.

From the tennis courts on the Upper Fields, head towards the big shot put net (?) and into the woods. You'll see a basket from the hill before you go down there, not cemented yet. I'm not sure where the course starts..

Just checked, and the Oakland U website states "Disc Golf Course: closed due for course redesign and development until Mid to Late Summer 2015". So it looks like we should get this little gem back yet this year! I work close by, and so play a round during lunch sometimes. Shoot me a line if you want to meet up for a round.

I'm not sure what their plans are for the baskets but I know they can be used elsewhere. Civic Center could also use new baskets and it's right around the corner. We have also been working on remolding that course.

Jeff Novak   June 8, 2015 at 10:25pm

Josh Hewitt posted a quote from the director back in March that the course should be back up by mid-summer. You can read it on Oakland U. course page under comments. I'll stay hopeful.

Miles Lawrence   June 8, 2015 at 11:04pm

I just wish I could play hole 4 again, or the original hole 18, or hole 5, and 7. Oh hell who am I kidding I loved that course. Hope it comes back too.
