If anyone is interested in getting out of town for a round or 2 this week, give me a heads up. Im off work all day tomorrow and would really like to hit at least one course... I'll also try to make either Monday's league at Herman c. Michael or Thursday at Claystone or Sandy Creek.
It looks like I should have a lot of free time to get some work done on Myrtle these next couple weeks as well. If anyone is willing to put some time into doing some minor work out there, let's figure out a good time.

If anyone is interested in making the trip, I will be playing Redan Park's weekly doubles on Sunday. It's about an hour and a half drive and starts at 10, so we would need to leave bright and early... Give me a heads up if you are interested and we'll work it out.

Also, I found a familiar disc that I know I've seen but I can't remember who's it is. It is a blue champion boss with a giant question mark on the front of it. I found it on #12.

Does anyone have a mulcher or access to one that we could use to get rid of the hazardous and unsightly piles of dead brush/branches/etc? (or another idea for it) Also, I am hoping to level out the teepads in the very near future. I have removed most of the smaller to medium roots from the ground, but need something a little more heavy duty to dig/ cut those bigger ones out with. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, if anyone is willing to get out there with me in the next week or so I ... more

I think the name of the club should be DFOG

Thanks for the input Jon, and for coming out and playing doubles today. We talked a little last week about doing 2 seperate days (one for doubles and one for either a bag-tag league or a points league of some kind). As of right now I am having a hard time telling what I'll be able to commit to but I'm sure that we will be able to decide on a format in the near future and as long as someone can collect scores, the league should be very easy to run (even if I can't make it).

Whats up guys. Looking forward to getting a leauge organized. What about alternating doubles one weej and singles the next. Or just doing two start times? As far as pars go, i dont feel that any of these should be a par 4 except maybe 15. As far as he 4 hoes, i think it may need some sort of moat for drainage combined with some wood ships or something. Its a much more challanging and fun tee pad if it stays in the original spot. Well im out here trying to warm up. See you guys in 30.

Maybe having a doubles league a couple times a month or so on another day, or testing it out at a tuesday league before anything is set in stone would be good. I really enjoy playing doubles, but it can be off-putting to first time league players if there isn't a very deep pool of players and the tunout the first two weeks has been pretty discouraging. As far as par goes, I think that a few could maybe be tweaked or stretched out around a bend to pull of a couple legitimate par 4s at some p ... more

I like playing ramdom draw doubles, mostly because it is laid back and competitive at the same time. However, I am very interested in getting single play data for the course to help establish pars. I would call almost all the holes par 3, but 11 and 15 (especially the long) almost fours. Maybe a two round singles tournament on a Saturday would be a good way to kick off the league and determine tag positions, One round with current setup and a second round with the baskets in the original positions. What do you think?

Lyle VandaMark and I have been talking about some of the same improvements you have mentioned, Kevin. Tee 4 is a big priority. I played it today, but it is as dry as it has been in weeks. A little rain and it will be back to mush. I like it where it is, although we usually play it shorter when it is swamped. Roots on tee areas and piles of debris are concerns we also share. I also agree on some of the tee signs being in a bad place. All that being said, Doug and the guys at GCSU have done ... more

I updated Myrtle Ridge to the 18 hole layout on here and posted league info (Tuesdays at 5:30)... I have been out there almost every day removing rubble/debris from the fairways. I have pulled most of the roots from the teepads and removed loose rocks as well. Should be able to get them level and re-compacted as soon as I can find something to get the larger roots up with but they are looking MUCH better lately. Piles of discarded limbs and trees really need a better place as most of them are i ... more

I wish you could too Mark. It's still in the planning process though, so feel free to give some input if you'd like to... I think you'd really like the courses out in GA. Most of the ones I've played so far are heavily wooded and technical with lots of elevation.

I wish I could get in on this tag league. Maybe some day I can make one of the rounds.

Everyone take a second to give a little input on what days would/wouldn't work for a league time, and what kind of format you would prefer...
I have talked to a couple manufacturers and a couple large retailers about getting some tags printed up for a tag league (maybe a partial sponsorship to help minimize cost as well!). I can likely work my schedule around the majority vote, but would like to shoot for a weekday late afternoon since tournament season might affect attendance with most events being on weekends.
