Correct. You’re essentially playing for a free round on the new pay to play course. Trying something new to keep people from having to gather at the end due to the virus. It also helps us run the FLEX start easier, allowing groups to start when ready and letting people trickle in after work as ready.

Given the current circumstances, people are playing casual rounds (while hopefully practicing social distancing) but we can't begin any organized play until the limit on gatherings is lifted or at least amended. We typically start our summer doubles league at Kincaid Park on Wednesday evenings on the first week of May, but that is on hold for now. The same goes for tournaments, at this point the PDGA isn't sanctioning any events through the month of May and as a result several tournaments have either been cancelled or potentially postponed.

And yes, the ADGA is new player friendly. We welcome players of all skill levels to join us. As far as benefits to joining our organization, you receive a club stamped disc when you join for the first time ($40, it's $30 to renew each year after that), and you also receive the discounted rate when playing our leagues (typically $7 for members and $10 for non-members). You also have the opportunity to volunteer when we do any course maintenance, which is a great way to give back to the disc golf community.

They play random doubles on Wednesdays, although the summer leagues will not start for a few weeks. Benefits include playing with great players, friendship, learning more about disc golf. Membership fees support the sport as the ADGA members maintain the courses and local tournaments

Hi Joe, I do have permission to use the yard at Am. Legion on Fireweed at no cost for a putting league. Also, looking to organize a club meeting there in the next few weeks. Potential sponsorship from them on events and course development. If interested I can post more.

I asked about tossing discs on the field and the young adults that were there didn't seem to have a problem with it. Not sure how mgmt feels about it. You would have to go on a weekday in the morning or before school lets out when it's not being used by other athletes.

We rented it out for a tourney one winter. It was super expensive. In regards to just using it to putt around, when I did so a few years they just charged me a $10 user fee. They didn’t allow me to throw at the netting though.

Joe, if you would like to run the league I'd be happy to see it. Look into it with the PDGA. Read the resource materials available on the website for Tournament Directors as it is fairly similar to running a sanctioned tournament. At that point you'll need to sanction the league, which requires a fee. I can sanction it and pay the fee or you can sanction it on your own and the club will reimburse you. I believe that there is a minimum number of consecutive weeks (6?) that the league must be run. At the end you submit payment to the PDGA for the players' fees, as well as a report. This would be a good learning experience and I'll help in any way necessary. I'd probably suggest doing Westchester and Davis on an alternating format as the pads at PC aren't being maintained regularly this winter.

If you aren't already you'll also need to become a certified official with the PDGA. It's an open book test that you take online that essentially demonstrates your ability to interpret and apply the PDGA rules in a tournament/league setting.

I don't know how long it takes to get stuff approved, but I'll try and submit what I can tomorrow. I'm thinking if we get it up and running soon, we can do the same 10-week thing from last winter? Might be fun to have a final 16 at PC or something if it thaws by April.
