Congrats to all board members for their willingness to serve and for the dedication they put forth for the 2014 season. I think the 2014 Alaska disc golf season is going to be the best yet. We have some amazing events lined up for this year already and some great things are in the works. Thanks to all as well for showing up at the board meeting the other night and taking the time out of their day to attend and participate. It is great to see these big turnouts for our ADGA meetings and I hop ... more

The adga should remain serving the interests of the anchorage area. If you'd like to Change it, run for office and propose a by-law change. Remember that it will have to be approved by a 2/3s majority vote by current members in attendance. There is no reason a statewide organization can't be organized/established. As a two year member of the adga I will not be quiet and walk away from the capital the anchorage area has contributed. If you do not want to honor the by laws or have belief ... more

Topics to think about/discuss.
1. Should Kincaid DG course be a pay to play?
Between $2-$5 for a day pass.
Season pass option?
_pro's & con's
2. Discussing the possibility of a 2nd 18 hole course at Kincaid with the parks department.
_maybe starting near the front gate parking lot.
_what is in the parks master plan? Is this a possibility, is there enough use age to warrant a 2nd course.
Anyone have any knowledge on this topic?
I was at the wcl closure meeting and the homeowners that showed up love us and the course. It was a bum camp before disc golf
The only people that judge us are uninformed. It's the fact that everyone wants to read about problems rather than the good we do. Tragedy sells copies and gets ratings

Saturday leagues have been sanctioned with the PDGA for the months of January and February. The league will alternate between PC and the Goon. I only signed up for a 2 month period as a trial to see if we like this idea. If you have any questions on PDGA leagues please visit the following site. http://www.pdga.com/leagues Click on the link under FAQ after reading the introduction. Handicapped leagues....... at PC we will be keeping the same with a running average handicap. At the Goon w ... more

Article III Meetings Section 3 states "Special meetings may be called if ten days notice is posted to the current membership. Postings to take place on course bulletin boards at each course that is under club supervision and/or via email or web sit."
This was certainly not done since Brian posted the night before the meeting that there would be one. Considering Brian is not even on the board and is certainly not the Secretary (the Secretary is the one who posts the times for meeting ...

I think it's obvious that is not what I was trying to say considering I spent my time volunteering out at pc as well. I'm saying that as far as I know the only league that contributes a portion of each buy in to the ADGA is anchorage leagues. I could be wrong but I think that part of the r ... more
I will be announcing the official time and date of the next ADGA meeting as well as providing an agenda for that meeting within the next couple of days. ADGA meeting are regularly held on the first tuesday of each month at 7 pm.

I was under the impression that the ADGA was the group focused on the state as a whole, but apparently in the bylaws of the ADGA this is not the case. I agree with others who see the need for the overarching association, and feel like Anchorage should have an Anchorage oriented club like Moose Pretzel in Homer, FDGA in FBX, etc. With this in mind, I can think of this taking place in two ways. 1) ADGA bylaws are changed to focus on Alaska in general and Anchorage starts a new club or associati ... more
I think this requires the imput of all state clubs on whether they want a separate Association that emcompasses thd entire state or leave the ADGA as the stats Association.
I hate to be a stickler on grammar (I can't help it, ask my boss), g lane, but you're not correct. I was 'under the impression' (being impressed upon) not 'of the impression' (part of the impression or doing the impressing).

The future may be now! I feel the the non profit issue is a big deal, but not the main issue.
my feeling is that the ADGA should have the non profit status so that all clubs in AK can accept donations to promote local as well as statewide dg initiatives and those donating can write it off on taxes.
Each club can have a balance as well as the ADGA as a whole.

Because of the growth of disc golf through out Alaska over the years I believe that there are some larger questions at hand.
1. Do we need the ADGA be a STATE organization? Do we need a overarching state organization?
2. Should the ADGA be an organization solely focused on the growth in support of Anchorage disc golf?
3. Is it time to start a ADGC(Anchorage Disc Golf Club) so that ANC, so local issues don't get bogged down in STATE issues.
Open discussion and dialog on these ...

Article I. Purpose
Section 1. This organization has been formed to promote Disc Golf in the Anchorage, Alaska area. We as a group will endeavor to seek growth in numbers who participate as well as expansion of the venue where we participate. We seek to further these goals by engaging in conduct that will be beneficial to the growth of disc golf. This organization will be a no ...

sorry, hit return...The current bylaws stipulate that elections are to be held in December of each year. I agree with Kurtis that we need to determine what we want the ADGA to be for the future, but we HAVE to have an elected board in order to renew our non-profit status. In my opinion this need takes imminent precedence over rushing to a decision regarding the mission of the
ADGA. (sorry, did it again) If we were to create two separate organizations a great portion of the revenue currently going to the ADGA would be redirected to the new Anchorage club. If this were the case would the Anchorage club fund projects/tournaments in the bowl area while the other local clubs do the same in their respective locales?
We need to get a elected board in place, restore our non profit status than we can get down to the business of sorting out Tournament Schedule, Amend the Bylaws that are either incorrect (renewal fee) or no longer apply. I do think we need a Anchorage club . I think we might be able to do it if we d ... more
