An inch of snow on the ground, 38 degrees - and I lost my Pro Beast disc a couple of times - burrowed into the snow - thankfully, after an extensive search, I found it again.

Thankfully, after a long stretch of hot and humid weather, a cooler day has arrived with temps in the low 70's - so I was playing a bit better as I'm not overheated - definitely benefiting from recent putting practice at home with two practice baskets set up.

Rock River Park, Regular tees, 9 holes
Wow is the rough thick currently - haven't been out here in a couple of months. The course has areas throughout that are overgrown and could use some trimming to make the hole playable. The fairways and the green circles are all mowed much too small, making it difficult to locate discs that fall outside of them. Many of the tees could use maintenance as well - the one on hole 9 being in the worst shape as there is a mound in the middle of material that is compressed/stuck together, making for a difficult throw. I stepped into a couple of holes that were likely created by animals earlier in the year, and by all rights, should also have been filled in to make the areas safer, as I nearly twisted my ankle on a couple of occasions.

Played the entire round with forehand shots - great challenge and it's definitely bringing up that part of my game. I was pleasantly surprised to find my driving distance at times to be close to that of my backhand throws (doesn't say a lot for that part of my game ;)

Relatively windy day - really adds to the difficulty of this mostly open "pasture" course. I lost my "new" Nuke SS on hole 6, but found 4 others during my half hour search, including one Nuke with no name (mine had yet to be labeled as well), so I came out even for discs as well as for the round(s).

I made the mistake of reading a ton of "how to" articles the night before and was trying out a bunch of them throughout the day with varied results (some good, much bad) often ending up in trouble and paying for it!

24 degrees outside with a light breeze - not too cold to play, but definitely had issues with proper release as the discs seemed more slippery at this temperature. I found that a bit of spit on the surface helped the golf glove get better traction.

30 degrees and breezy - but the course is fairly well sheltered from the wind for the most part, so enjoyed three rounds today - really surprised to be able to get out and play this late in the season - but there is no snow on the ground and with the recent warm temps, the ground isn't even frozen yet.

First time that I've seen the park put up their holiday (Xmas) decorations this early - hole 4 has a pair of figures just to the side of the fairway and they may stop a few wayward drives that drift off to the right side of the fairway.

New T-Boxes (shifted slightly from their original locations) for the entire course (with the exception of hole #7) to allow the grass to grow back. The new tee locations impacted hole #6 the most - moving it back behind the original tee - making the drive much more challenging due to the overhanging branches that are now even more restrictive for a good flight path to the alternate basket location on the right.

My course best - first birdie for me on hole 6's new basket location - it was aided by a stiff breeze off the lake that pushed my disc toward the hole!

"Torqued" my back stepping into a depression that I didn't notice while I was driving on the 8th tee (During the 2nd round). Repair and leveling of the tees should be a normal part of course maintenance - and one of the downsides to the grass/dirt tee boxes. Definitely impacted the rest of my game that day, and I'm still sore the following day.

Three over isn't my course record (high or low), but among my list of excuses for this score include (tongue firmly implanted in cheek): 1. The wind shifted the entire round and was constantly in my face. 2. The kids playing soccer on the adjacent field were more noisy than usual, especially when I was putting. 3. I hadn't meditated prior to the round and was unable to get in the ever-so-elusive "zone" 4. That rock I hit on my drive on hole 6 scratched my new pro Destroyer and it became "flippy". As the old adage goes....Even a bad round of disc golf is better than a sharp stick in the eye...

Brand new course tonight! Well kind of, since almost all of the baskets were shifted to their alternate positions. So after a summer of playing the course, it was a welcome change and some new challenges. Thankfully, hole three's basket was moved to the closer position as I regularly bogeyed the longer one!
