F Cunningham (for the first time). I know I should be resting it up, but how long does my weak body need?! LOL I've come to the decision to just stop playing/practicing all together until my hand is fully healed, not only to make sure no permanent damage is done, but also to stop these terrible scores for a while! ><”

+14 68 January 7, ‘12 | Griffin Park, Regular tees, 18 holes “I tried getting back out and throwing today at a couple different courses (here and Kenneth L. King Park in Noble) after my week off from my injury back on New Year's Eve, but my hand was already throbbing after the first couple holes. Today (a day later) I'm really regretting my decision, as I can barely move my wrist or close my hand. Looks like I was too over-zealous and I'll be sidelined from the game for a while longer. Poop.”

-5 28 December 28, ‘11 | Wild Horse Park, Regular Tees (Back 9) (Updated Pars), 9 holes “Little cooler/calm day, with W winds at 4 mph.
--So on December 31st I went out with some friends for a session at Arcadia Lake (Blue Course) and had a fun time on hole #2 pulling about a inch or so of a two-inch thorn out of the palm of my hand. I had to do a falling putt in the woods to get under a tree branch, and if you know anything about the course, it's either that it's infested with ticks, or that the trees are completely covered in 2+ inch thorns (which obviously eventually fall to the ground, and into my hand). Now two days later, my hand is still in pretty rough shape, not being able to squeeze it, consistent tingling in my fingers, and the muscles in the lower palm and into my wrist feeling like they're on fire most of the time.
The latter part of 2010 has been great for me as far as disc golf goes (except for the last day...). I decided to take the sport more seriously, practiced and focused meticulously, and got to see the improvements from when I first played the sport in February up until now. Like most of us do, however, I feel like I could've done so much more. So, I have made a resolution-type decision that in 2011 I will take my game to the next level so-to-speak. I am taking some time off at the beginning of the year (not by choice) to let my hand heal. Once that has happened, I will get back to the game by going to fields around my house to throw my bag, trying to find out the flight characteristics of my discs, and what they're capable of doing behind my arm. Hopefully by taking this route, I will get back to the courses refreshed, and on the right road to bringing those scores down. Happy New Year everybody!!!!”

E 54 December 5, ‘11 | Arcadia Lake, Blue course, Regular tees, 18 holes “Cold day today; 21-degree windchill and 25-30 mph winds. Hit the chains again despite the conditions, this time on hole #13 (180 feet, dogleg left with a low ceiling and narrow alley into woods; picture of the hole can be seen in "Randoms"), but not as flush, coming in on a hyzer and hitting the front of the chains and going through.”

+1 55 November 6, ‘11 | Wild Horse Park, Regular tees, 18 holes Partner: Brett Holicki “Things went more smoothly between my partner and I in the second round with the more traditional styles of doubles being played. A few medium-distance putts missed here and there, but a pretty normal session for us otherwise.
Holes #1-#9: Best Shot
Holes #10-#18: Alternate Shot”

+8 62 November 6, ‘11 | Wild Horse Park, Regular tees, 18 holes Partner: Brett Holicki “Played pretty well, being my first tournament and all I felt. On hole #2 it was an easy par that I decided to make hard and go for when I should've just been laying-up, but other than that, no standout problems for this first round of two.
Holes #1-#6: Worst Drive
Worst Drive ONLY, then play best shot after drive.
Holes #7-#12: Worst Score
Teams play individually, then mark down the highest score of the two.
Holes #13-#18: Best Shot”

+1 55 October 25, ‘11 | Wild Horse Park, Regular tees, 18 holes “I had a better day today than I've been used to lately. My thumbers were back on track, and my RHBH's were right where they are usually; average! I should've started off great, but missed two relatively easy birdie putts on hole #'s 1 & 2. Just over thought them, trying too hard to focus on not having repeats of my previous sessions. I also had a blip on hole #15 where I went for a long putt into a headwind that sailed my disc away. I'll take three mistakes and run with it.”

+3 57 October 23, ‘11 | Wild Horse Park, Regular tees, 18 holes “My thumbers were again... uncharacteristically short and inaccurate, leading to just shooting for par most of the time on the front nine. Luckily my RHBH drives on the back nine were accurate and of good distance to keep my score decent. Also, this was the first session where I've really thrown my Valkyrie as my primary driver, and it seems to be working out well.”

+6 60 October 22, ‘11 | Wild Horse Park, Regular tees, 18 holes “Just played bad. My thumbers were uncharacteristically short and inaccurate. On hole #16 I should've shot a 3, but a 15-foot putt or so hit the chains, balanced on the basket long enough for me to almost walk up to it, then decided to gracefully fall to the ground. Not a game-changer, just cute.”

+5 59 October 13, ‘11 | Wild Horse Park, Regular tees, 18 holes “Because of a busy week I've had to go to the gym all week right before playing a round, and it's taking it's toll. My elbows were locked up and really painful this morning when I woke up, and I found that at the gym and the subsequent disc golf match I couldn't straighten either arm out more than about 80%. My thumber (which is used at about 2/3 of this course) wasn't getting nearly the altitude it usually does, and it was falling around 60 feet shorter than usual. I had to compensate by throwing further away from obstacles because all of my throws were lower-profile, which in turn put me farther away from the basket. Just another rough day to throw a disc.”

+8 62 October 11, ‘11 | Dolese Youth Park, Long Tees, 18 holes “Lifted right before this session again. Another smart move... Also, they moved the baskets to the "long" locations over the weekend (see my course review). A good recipe for the score I got today.”

+3 57 October 5, ‘11 | Wild Horse Park, Regular tees, 18 holes “I had went straight from weight lifting to this session, and hadn't lifted in a while so I was more fatigued than usual. I utilize a thumber shot for 2/3 of this course which takes a lot of strength (from me anyways), especially on the front 9, and it just seemed a lot more difficult to get the amount of distance and control I am used to. I don't like making excuses for bad play as it's common with me and that would be a lot of typing, but I felt that it impacted shots that are usually pretty standard for me.”
