Course maintenance upgrades and updates

Hello All! There is a lot of information here...but all of it good and positive. I will be breaking this information down to individual more detail posts in the near future as developments occur.

Storage
We have gotten approval to store our equipment at Kincaid in the bunker by the soccer fields (closest to hole #5). Kincaid staff will provide access for us during hours 12 pm to 8:30 pm. I am meeting with Brad Cooke (Kincaid Superintendent) to finalize the arrangement.

Equipment
The club will be purchasing/acquiring new maintenance equipment. I am working with Andrew DiRoma to see if we can get tools donated or at a reduced price from Lowes. I should know within the next day or two. We are looking to get at least one self propelled lawn mower, two weed whackers, chain saw, and hand tools (shovels, pitch forks, etc). We are transitioning to 4 cycle engines in the weed whackers which uses gas only. This way we do not have to worry about mixing oil in to the fuel.

Kincaid
As some of you may know from my updates at Weds. Dubs, I am working with Anch. Parks and Rec and Brad Cooke to address usage and soil erosion around the Kincaid tee pads. Kincaid will supply 6x6 timbers, gravel, top soil and mulch for the project. We supply the labor. The goal is to install timbering around the tee pads with a 12 to 18 inch buffer back filled with gravel. For the more elevated tee pads, we will be using downed logs to reinforce the lower inclined section of the tee areas. This will be a two season project, with 1/3 of the funds available this year. And the rest for next year. This is a great and much needed project. We will need full support to make this happen. Stay tuned!

PC
Greg Rouse has fabricated the new "B" pin sleeves. The majority of the pins will be installed next week. Then we can get the new tee signs designed and figure out an avenue for fabrication. We will need a crew or two to help trim the new green areas.

Hilltop
Hilltop is redesigning and adjusting some of the holes. Rick and Thad have looked at some of the construction criticisms of the course design in online reviews. They have redesigned several holes to increase the fun of course play and still maintain the challenging qualities of the course. Thad has posted information for helping with the redesign course work. PLEASE get up to the HILL and help them. There are great incentives for volunteering on the course work. I have been there to clear alder and will be back again to continue helping. Hilltop is a very important piece to Anchorage's disc golf scene and they deserve our SUPPORT.

We are at a crucial point in the evolution of our disc golf courses and development. We have developed a great relationship with Parks and Rec. Let's keep the momentum rolling and fulfill the opportunities that are before us. I will do everything within my ability to organize the course upgrades so that your volunteer time is productive and rewarding. I would like to make it OUR GOAL to install professional quality course improvements in an efficient and timely manner. More to come.
