Heading to Detroit Monday 5-18 for a week of training. Looking for a place to play some kind of organized play. This appears to be the closest course to my hotel at the RenCen...any ideas on where or when to go...also is this course a walkable distance from the RenCen?

If you walk a lot, sure. If not Lyft or Uber! We are open from 10am - 8 on the weekend. If you have any more questions message me at [email redacted]. We would love to have you out for a round!

Hey Doug. Belle Isle is really the only reasonably close course that is worth the trip. Good news is that it may be the best and most unique urban course in country. She is still a bit rough around the edges and can hold some water if it has been raining. I am suggesting a pair of boots. You co ... more

It would be a 4.5 mile walk (1.5 hours) to the course from the ren cen. I would definitly go Uber.

Stephen Moore   May 15, 2015 at 11:17am

Yeah and the neighborhoods between the Ren and Belle Isle are not necessarily the best areas to walk. Some are, some aren't. Uber would be like $3-4

Doug Williams   May 15, 2015 at 11:47am

OK I give whats Uber? I would love a guide and still trying to figure out if I am needing a rental car during my stay. Also looking for some organized competitive play while im there...any local mini tourneys hapening? Maybe there or elsewhere nearby?

Uber and Lyft (better) are simply apps that offer ride services. You could feasibly rent a bike in the city and ride to the course. Super easy and a nice ride. Jefferson is the only road you will take and other than pot holes the ride is pretty safe.

Hoping to be on the ground Monday by noonish and on the course before 3 if at all possible...thanks for the tips

Great suggestion, Nick. They actually rent Segways at the Ren Cen, that would be pretty cool. I think you can actually take the RiverWalk all the way to Mt Elliot before having to hop back to Jefferson to the bridge. A cab wil work if Uber is a foriegn language. It is to me, lol.

The first week of Tues Random Dubs starts the 19th.

Doug Williams   May 15, 2015 at 2:08pm

Thanks for the tips guys much appreciated. mapquest puts the address' at 5.2 miles apart...most likely just get a cab...couldnt be too much could it? Have never been in a cab despite living in the big citiy all my life. So what time is the random dubs begin? and meet at hole 1

Steve Nolff   May 15, 2015 at 2:22pm

Looks like it starts 5:45 on Tues. First night of a brand new league, not sure what the turn out will be.

Steve Nolff   May 15, 2015 at 2:22pm

The information is on the events tab of the Belle Isle course.

Stephen Moore   May 15, 2015 at 2:34pm

Don't get a cab...that cab ride will cost you at least $20. Uber will be like $5

Nick Oliver   May 15, 2015 at 2:50pm

This^

Nick Oliver   May 15, 2015 at 2:51pm

And I will be honest, our course is a bit soggy, especially when it rains a decent amount. Bring WP boots or toe shoes.

Stephen Moore   May 15, 2015 at 3:21pm

Yeah checked Uber....its $6

Doug Williams   May 20, 2015 at 11:20pm

Enjoyed the course but it sure could use a mow. Shame more folks didn't show up for the 1st league nite. Thanks Eric for the ride it was greatly appreciated.
