Why is it that every time I take on the task of emptying the course garbage cans, the idea of "pay to play" sounds more reasonable to me. What are everyone's thoughts on Pay to Play?
no way...Thats what makes this area special!! When I go to new england I mutter every time I have to pay....but Punderson is a great course and I would pay!!
club / course membership would be a better option. i think it would be tough to manage a pay to play without somebody who will be at the course to take money at all times the course is open. and i'd imagine that person would want to be paid....so there goes some of that $$$$.
I guess a course membership would be the same as pay to play. it doesn't have to be per round. of the places we play rely on volunteer help. And volunteer help us really hard to find and maintain and is not on par with course needs and course improvements.
Actually, I believe it has merit and should be looked into. Playing the NE courses and the MI courses that are pay to play add those elements that aren't found everywhere. One of which is (usually) clean and manicured courses. The difficulty is in managing the payments and the enforcement bu ...

One of which is (usually) clean and manicured courses. The difficulty is in managing the payments and the enforcement but a flat fee for a round or a season pass are definitely very good ideas. Imagine doing course improvements without having to beg, borrow and steal ducats?!! Some courses warrent it and I believe Punderson could be one of those courses.
Why would punderson be a place that warrants it? My understanding that punderson does quite well financially then a lot of other parks and the guys such as Andy, Bob etc get full support from the park. Most courses have clubs that will do maintance or raise money to better the course. Charge per round or membership to play a disc golf at a state park or city park is crazy ......we basically already play to pay, it's called taxes!
That is a total mis-conception of Punderson... If you really knew about the park, and the state park system you would not be saying that. Punderson barely has enough staff to keep what they need to maintained throughout the year, they don't have the staff to do much on the disc golf course and ...

Punderson barely has enough staff to keep what they need to maintained throughout the year, they don't have the staff to do much on the disc golf course and if we weren't there involved as the Friends of Punderson and to maintain it ourselves (meaning the group of volunteers we have, I haven't been out there myself) it would probably be a lot less enjoyable to play.

unless it's a private course I would say foolish!!!
punderson is definitely a place that warrants it. probably the only one in the NEO that does.
