Challenge Grant Application Results

Jeremy B. put together a very solid grant proposal to the Parks Foundation. We asked for roughly $26k to install an 18 hole course in East Anchorage. Louie has also been participating on a committee for the Davis Park Master Plan. Although it looks good for a potential course at Davis Park, it is not yet confirmed or approved.

Since a potential course has not yet been approved by the city, we were not granted the funds. However, with Jeremy and Louie's dedicated time, they have put us on the radar with Parks and Rec. for wanting to put a course in on the east side of town. We will continue to work with the city on a potential course, it may not be Davis Park, but hopefully somewhere on the east side. So we will look to apply for a grant again next year.

A side note (to preempt any discussion of Where a course should go in), the east side needs a course, plain and simple. There are other potential sites, south side sports complex and Kincaid. But I believe we should focus on the east side first. It is best for the Anchorage community as a whole, and there is several good spaces to work with.

Thank you Jeremy and Louie for dedicating some of your personal time to this process!!

That's great news.

It would be greater if we got the money (it's ok Jeremy :) ) but thank you Will.

It was my pleasure to work on the grant, as it is great experience for future endeavors. I'm convinced that once Parks decides where to allow a course we will be able to reapply successfully.

You're 100% right, Boydo! I've had a relationship with our local P&R, as well as, ER P&R for years now and I know this is the best relationship we've ever had with them. They're on board with what needs to happen. It'll be a slow process but it'll happen.
