Seeing as I'm unable to attend the meeting tomorrow, I thought I'd post my question on here and hope it'll get asked there tomorrow. I'm just curious if maybe we could consider moving the Alcantra tournament and having states the week after king of the hill. I mean if the point is to have pros come up and play why not have the states two biggest tournaments back to back so they could attend both? Just a thought that makes sense.
I agree on that
Couple of comments on your post Jake. The schedule is already set and folks outside of anchorage have already made travel plans to go to both KotH and AKDGC. 2. What's wrong them playing in Alcantra and making that a big tournament? 3. Last I checked, there was no TD for AKDGC. I'm not su ... more

I'm not sure if you're aware, but you are more than welcome to TD a tournament and to work with your local club to run it and schedule it.
I just checked and AK is the TD for states. That's awesome!
I just think we should include move states because it's a bigger tournament and has better courses. Forgive me if I'm wrong but if you took a pro out to Alcantra they'd laugh at you. That's not a championship level course like kincaid hilltop and peterscreek
I don't think you're wrong on that. The idea of having it right after KotH is not new, I've talked about it with a few folks and I'm sure others in Anchorage have. Do the top pros HAVE to play in tournaments on the top courses? No, I've played in and watched plenty of top ... more

Do the top pros HAVE to play in tournaments on the top courses? No, I've played in and watched plenty of top pros play tournaments on rinky dink courses. I don't think they'd mind playing a tournament in Alcantra, and we don't even know if Tre is going to change the layout up. And why should we change the schedule just for them anyway? ADGA made that schedule and everyone agreed on it. In any case, the time for working on the schedule was in October and November and that should have been decided then.
I think Alcantra in its new 18 hole layout compares favorably with Peters Creek. Josh is correct, top pros play tournaments on small wooded courses quite frequently.
I'm just sayin, in my opinion, why not have them play on the best course in the state which is undeniably kincaid.
in my opinion , i just want to play disc golf .
I think the week prior to KotH is the better date but conflicts with the Solstice Tournament which is a great event and is a signature event like Homers Tall Grass and Hilltops King of the Hill. I would love to see States in Fairbanks next yr and maybe hold it on the Solstice weekend.
Thanks for your input in light of the upcoming meeting. Your suggestion will be mentioned, however I urge you to recognize that the ADGA does not have sole jurisdiction of the tournament schedule, and the tournament you're suggesting be rescheduled includes the Mat-Su local. This may be outside of the scope of the ADGA board.
Everyone: In case it went unnoticed, I'm not even part of the ADGA board, I just choose to show up and take notes because I know how. The ADGA is in need of a Secretary, someone to help with documentation. Who wants to volunteer?
jake haskin is my first choice!!
