Putting League Creation

I am fully supporting the efforts of Who Needs Chains (WNC) in the creation of a winter putting league to be held at the Boys and Girls Club on Muldoon Rd. WNC's mission is a completely selfless cause to provide opportunities for at risk youth to engage with adults in activities through disc golf. It will provide an arena of mentoring for children to learn disc golf, etiquette, good sportsmanship, self confidence, and positive social participation. These skills can all be used in their personal lives outside of an activity that we all enjoy very much.

When considering what ADGA members accomplish when volunteering, the majority of the time it is for improving our local courses. Which in turn is a self serving cause. By supporting WNC, we are giving productive time to our community on a broader and deeper level. For some of us it may be difficult to understand what it is like for a child to not have positive interactions or role models. And for others, they know it all to well. I truly hope that our members will find the time to help give positive influence and encouragement to youth of the Boys and Girls Club. Speaking personally, learning disc golf for me has been a process of affirmation of my own life lessons. And with that, I want to provide opportunities for children to enjoy the sport and gain reward from playing it as much as I do.

For the first season, I was asked to invite 10 members of the ADGA to participate in the league. I am inviting members who I feel offer a positive influence to our association. This is not a popularity contest or a clique. This is simply about selfless giving of personal time to children in need of healthy interaction. The goal for this initial season is to create a league model on which to expand on to allow more members to participate. My hope is that besides the initial 10 members, others will join me in this worthy cause. For those interested in participating, please comment below. Lastly, although this is competitive in nature the true reward is the opportunities for the children.

Thank you for you time,

AK

I'm all for supporting stuff but can we have more information about WNC? Who's behind it? Is this one of those whole world things? Is there a cost associated with this?

I will be addressing this at the next meeting for sure. No costs associated...just time :)

I'm interested in helping with this cause, always looking to help kids get more self confidence, especially when associated with disc golf
