TREE PLANTING

November 15th City of Salem, Friends of trees, and Capital city disc golf will be planting 32 trees at Cascade Gateway Park . The holes will already be dug, easy work left. This is not a cap city thing, I would really like to see the disc golf community show up for this event. We need to show city of salem that disc golf is the future, and we are here to stay. We will be putting up more netting. And maybe have time for a doubles round. Thanks "B"

Thanks for the heads up on this Barry. Are these trees going in the disc course area or thruout the whole park. If in disc golf area is there a map layout of where they are going in at? If so could that be released for our viewing? Thank you.

All of the trees will be in the disc golf area.

Good news sounds like to change course up and revitalize it. Any idea of size, kind, or locations planned. Did they decide locations or are you in on that part of plan. If locations not decided on is there any input allowed from players? Thanks Barry for info.

I'll mark the calendar and try to make it work to be there. Steve asks a couple questions I'd like to hear the answers to also. Mainly how big of trees are they going to be and the locations.

There are some more details on the 15 November 2014 calendar item for this @ http://capitalcitydiscgolf.com/calendar.html and Friends of Trees also has it on their site as well.

Thanks for that info Steven W, but it doesn't answer questions asked. Besides I already had found that information before hand.

Thanks Steve but not really what I was wondering. More like 10 trees going into 18's fairway, 5 on 9 's fairway, and so on. That kinda info. Also Barry glad you posted that this is to be a DG community exercise and trying to include everyone.

I have seen the map of tree locations, I just can't locate it at the moment. I just asked for it to be re-sent to me, so once I get it I will post it. Barry did choose the locations, with support/input from the City of Salem Parks Dept as well as Friends of Trees.

Thanks Kayla. Hopefully you can get it up soon. Very interested to see how this will change Cascade.

Friends of trees has the species list and final locations I spray painted on the course, basketball sized orange circles where the approximate location of trees are going to be.

I have a map of the tree placements at the shop. Anyone is welcome to come in and check it out. The course will be awesome with the trees planted in!

So after doing a walk of course and seeing map, I'm wondering who decided on the placement of the trees. Seems like if this had been in planning for awhile some input from others could have been requested for ideas and thoughts. I will hold final comments till trees get put in and see how the ... more

To whom it may concern, there were a half dozen people brought in on species and locations of trees, of course they're all experts and have planted over 1 million trees. If you want to come out and help plant trees on November 15th that would be awesome please stop trying just to shine a light on your own voice. Thank
