After reading the mlive article ( http://bit.ly/1kZtciS ), it seems they could have done more. Problems with teens drinking and partying? Have a patrol roll through every few hours and even take a walk through. It wouldn't take long for the kids to find a new place to chill after weekly arrests.
Vicksburg constantly has cops rolling through the parking lot, and sometimes even on foot through the park - and they are extremely polite while doing it. I had an officer stop walking to let me finish a hole before walking through and the parking lot patrols always wave when you acknowledge them.
I am sure it didn't bring people through the air zoo doors as paying customers, but did they really expect it to? Even a dollar donation box would have brought enough revenue to pay for course maintenance. Bum deal.
I hear you...part of me feels that this issue was more problems at night, when disc golfers were gone. I've played numerous times at the course, usually weekdays in the evening and a couple of times on the weekend, and I've never seen lewd behavior occurring. Alcohol consumption? Ok, I ... more

Ok, I've had a few beers there, usually just 1, sometimes 2. I have occasionally smelled pot, but nothing like a music festival. Bum Deal for sure...
The reason it got the way it did was because it was managed poorly. They didn't know how (or want) to control what happened out there. The reason it got the way it did was because it was managed poorly. They didn't know how (or want) to control what happened out there. After 2 years of letting people do whatever they want out there, it was even harder to stop things. They could have made money in lots of ways and they were told how, but didn't try anything. In short, there was no excuse for the behavior of the people out there but the poor management of the course by the Air Zoo was the reason for it's failure!
Larry, if your baskets need a new home, we could use a course down here in Branch County. There isn't a single course down here. I'm fairly certain Heritage park in Coldwater could house an 18 Hole course if a guy knew what he was doing.
Contact Dave Watson at 517-278-8566. He's a Recreation Program Supervisor for Coldwater City Parks. I'd be willing to help too.
I hate when I have to work in the Coldwater area... because there's no courses for me to take my lunch at!
Tell me about it.....I have to live here!!! We don't even have any hiking trails in Branch County....What does that tell you?
I knew there was a reason I never stopped in Coldwater on my way through to other places.... ;-) ...but you're right, Heritage Park would be a great place for one.
Funny thing is I work there usually once every week or two.
Looks like Hillsdale is planning a new course at McCourtie Park, which if any of you have heard of McCourtie Park it's an amazing site for a DG course. It's still a 40 minute drive for me though Grrrr!!!
Dave and Louis, We are working with Waffle Farm Campgounds to potentially install a course there in the Coldwater area.
Nice Larry!
Sweet that's 2 minutes right down the road!! Let me know if you need any assistance with anything. That would be so awesome. I'd even be willing to help take care of the course, organize events and so on.
Larry, do you generally make contact with potential course clients or do you actively seek out potential course sites? I only ask because in Branch county there is the county park River bend park. Its 25 acres, moderately wooded and mostly flat, but would easliy house 18 holes. Do you give quotes on just course design or does it include hardware, installation, etc?
