DFOK Fairmont Workday, Saturday Dec. 14th

Mark your calendars for Saturday Dec. 14th, from 9am until late afternoon, for a chance to further enhance the Fairmont Park Disc Golf Course.

The primary goal of this workday will be to prune back vegetation along multiple fairways in the front nine. Do you have a branch or two that are driving your c-r-a-z-y? This will be a great time to point them out to everyone, then work on fixing the problem. Have a strong opinion of exactly where some remaining Tee boxes should be built? Come on out!

Yes, it may be a little cool. However, now that all the bugs are gone and the leaves have fallen, the time is right.

Stay tuned here for further details.

I should have elaborated. Good vegetation location & smart tee box placement go hand in hand... when making a great fairway.

Hey Rick you remember that tree I suggested we save on hole #2? You put a "save this tree" sign on it. Well after some discussion with Mark and Allen and some other players I think it needs to be removed after all. I'm sure someone has brought it to your attention as well. Current ... more

And if anyone else has an opinion about this tree please speak up and let us know if it should stay or go.

At one time I thought we should keep it because we couldn't put it back but have changed my mind. I don't feel that that tree has anything to do with "making the shot" for that hole.

I'm pretty on much board with the fairway #2 tree thing. I think it might be a little early, but generally speaking we've taken the right approach of playing it for a while before cutting it down. Plus, I certainly agree that it has turned out to be more Luck based that Skill based.

BTW, the "save this tree" was to protect it because we initally painted with temporary paint as a tree we want removed...

I agree that the tree in question should go. There should at least be a doorway-sized gap to throw through on a hole or it does indeed become more of a crapshoot than a game of skill.

That sounds good about the tree on #2. I'll call the county & get clearance to do so.
