We are looking to do some work on the course both Saturday and Sunday. We may be moving some slag in place for a few of the new tee pads, installing 3 baskets, and maybe doing some clearing on the new fairways that were roughed in last fall from the Spring growth. Please get with me if you are available. We have 2 weekends to get the course ready for the Gale Vaughn Memorial...
may have time on Sunday, what time frame are you guys gonna be out there and what tools will be needed?
Gloves, shovels, maybe a gas powered weed whip. Ne ETA yet for Sunday. It will depend on what we do tomorrow. The plan now is to clear and spread slag where the new tee pads will go on Saturday as well as dig 3 holes for the new basket placements. Sunday I plan on installing the baskets.
I may be available on Sunday as well depending on times
I will be off Sunday, going to be out that way. I was going to play Stoney, but I think I can make a trip over to Bends as well that day.
Thanks guys. We are planning on putting down some slag and them moving some pads on the slag. We also may be digging some holes all on Saturday with the intentions of installing the baskets in them on Sunday. For Saturday, Mat Stivers and I plan on getting there around noon...
Hey John was the the other day and cleaned up garbage for hole 1 to 13
Sweet. Kerry told me the sign was moved to the offices to get repaired. It is on the list of "Things to do" so who knows when it will be back up. Nice of those guys who did the doughnuts by the volleyball courts to hit the sign on their joy ride :-(
Hopefully they smashed thier car / truck as well!!!
Got some fairways knocked down today, 11 ton of slag dropped off, and holes dug for basket planting. I hope to be out at the park by 10 and ready to install 5 baskets tomorrow. Thank you to Mat Stivers (Messina Landscaping tools are awesome) and Louis Caponi were out there before I left and were giving an awesome effort. Hope to see more people tomorrow...

Thanks to Jason Phillips, Mark Tokie, Louis Caponi, Ted Stoebling, Lydia Novitsky, Dan James, Mat Stivers, Rob Stivers, Mike Cook, Brian and Amber Frawley, and Brian Hurley for helping blaze new paths into the course. We are not done and I am hoping for a Tuesday and Thursday work night this week to continue clearing pad and fairway areas...
BTW, for those who were asking about the new layout, feel free to offer suggestions. Now would be the time to do so... http://www.discgolfscene.com/courses/River_Bends/Hole_1/50425

Please leave the bushes that separate the woods and the fairway for old hole 7. 2.tThe path, tee pad, fairway, and putting area for the new hole 12. Walk across the path from the fairway of old hole 7 and enter the woods at the clearing. We also plan on adding in an amateur tee pad just past the big tree. You will know it as soon as you see it uf04a ! 3.tWe also need the path seen in the video I posted cleaned up right behind the new basket 12 leading to old short tee pad #8 which now becomes hole 13. 4.tThere are 2 things going on at old hole 17 which is now hole 22. We have reversed the hole and now the basket for this fairway is now where the tee pad used to be. Nothing needs to be done here however, the next hole needs some love. Hole 23 is in the woods on the right of hole 22u2019s fairway, old hole 17. As you walk to the new basket, the hole is in the woods on the right hand side of the fairway and throws to old basket 17. This tee pad and fairway needs more clearing. The rest of the course from hole 18 through hole 21 now becomes holes 24 u2013 27 and they will stay as is, for nowu2026
Please refer to the map provided a few posts up if you are lost, I sometimes have to myself although holes 22 and 23 are slightly different from the map... Here is the large version: http://www.discgolfscene.com/coursepictures/50425_l.jpg
We are aiming for 4:00 pm Thursday and could use a gas powered weed whip / trimmer or two for tee pad 20 (old hole long pad 15).
The course was pretty swamped today so not much got done. Mat is attempting to drop off about 20 yards of fill dirt in the morning and should be at my house before noon. If we can load everything, we may be back to Bends by noon to plop a few tee pads in...
If the grass at Bends gets cut this week, these are the playable holes with tee pads and baskets: Holes 1 - 5, the new hole 8 (reversed 23 to 22's basket, the new #9 to the top near the horseshoe pits through the woods from old 22's fairway, the new hole 10, the new hole 13 (old short 8), ... more

That's if the grass can get cut... We were able to place a bunch of tee pads and finish a basket install with Mat Stivers, Chris Leo, Louis Caponi, Brian Hurley, Mark Tokie, and Josh Schulte.
If your working on the course Saturday I can swing by after work and give a hand for a few hours.
