Neil - The park is allowing Ypsi Dubs to help layout and design the course. We have permission to begin to stake out holes, which we are trying to do after the CHURCH league on Sundays and whenever we can make it out. I was out there last night to see how the rain impacted several areas in the new space and to make some walking trails to help see the land and natural features for plan holes near the existing hole 1 & 2. Once the course layout is done the park will submit a proposal for the funds. The new course is already on the park's improvement plans but they have to submit a final proposal with all the details for funding.

You may have seen the new land as the road now goes through this area and comes back out on the other side of the water park. The area planned for the new course comes right up to behind #1 basket and #2 tee pad. It then crosses a meadow and through the wood line (sharing some of it with the mountain bike path). It emerges into the next meadow where it will skirt the left side of the pond and along the left side of the very large meadow. It will probably weave in and out of the tree line along the left side, back and then right side of that meadow, up through a tree line back to the road. It crosses the road with a few holes between the road and the new soccer fields before crossing back over the road and then back to the area behind the existing hole #1. Sorry I described it in the order we will probably be clearing and laying it out. Not the hole #1 of the new course will be behind hole #1 of the existing course.

There are also plans to create a pavilion near the Soccer field which we hope to get position so it is also near a hole and can be used as League Central.

The park was concerned about the existing hole 15 due to erosion of the hill and the tee pad. Thinking they could removed these signature holes on the hills and replace them with new holes in the new area. We have hopefully removed this concern with new trails to the left side and are in the process of shurring up the tee pad. Currently new existing holes will be removed and we are hoping to add at least 18 to 24 holes with long and short tee pads. There is a lot of land, mostly Rolling Meadows but several wooded areas so it will be a great addition to the park offering both open and technical holes with some big arm holes. The park said they want a championship level course and we plan on showing them how to create one.

The park staff is very consumed currently with the water park expansion. There are several new buildings, new parking lots and a new water slide tower with three slides to finish before the opening day and then they will be wrapping up the landscaping.

Anyone interested in helping there are plenty of opportunities, from helping explore layout, some initial clearing, playing the staked out holes to verify them.

Hope that helps - let me know if there are other questions or interest.
