CCR Wednesday Singles

Okay. I've been giving this some thought and now want to hear what you all think. Basically, The CCR is going to run two 10 week sanctioned seasons. 4/11-6/12 and 6/19-8/28. Coinciding with these two 10 week seasons will be a 20 week season where players compete for a basket by division.
10 week seasons will be $20 ($15 for Club members), plus an extra $10 if you want your 10 rounds sanctioned.
The 20 week season will cost $40 ($30 for Club members), plus an extra $20 for 20 sanctioned rounds.
There is one bye week in each 10 week season and both with include berths, as well as the 20 week.
As always, we will meet at the Shelter by 16's basket at Grand Woods.
Any thoughts would be great. Nothing is set on stone.

Wanna become a CCR member. No worries! Everyone is welcome. Just shoot me a message or sign up at league. Cost is $15 and you receive half off your annual at Burchfield, discounts on league, discount with DJ's discs and Club discs. plus a shot at becoming the CCR Club Champion at out end of the year Bag Tag Finals!

sounds fun. im in.

Mike Spagneto   March 12, 2013 at 8:18pm

right around the corner. i gotta learn how to putt again

Jeremy Kemp   March 12, 2013 at 9:22pm

is one of these 10 week leagues going to be held in the morning

Joshua Siwek   March 13, 2013 at 8:30am

this sounds fun to me too, I'm up for it. Would each sanctioned 10 week season be the same courses (or in the case of Burch; layouts) in the spirit of a two round tournament? or would they be different? Can we not do Valley Farms in the rated season? :-)

Matt Rinker   March 13, 2013 at 10:03am

Perm. I'm not opposed to a morning league, but there need to be 8 of you to generate a rating. But an unsanctioned league sounds fine to me. And Josh, the schedule wouldn't be the same for each 10 week season and we will talk about skipping Valley Farms. You got my vote and with the rounds being rating the the baskets missing chains, it may not be fair to play there.

Greg Carlen   March 13, 2013 at 10:06am

4/11 is the Wed b4 Bowling Green. I know there are a few long time league guys that will be going to BG. Most of us leave that Wed to head down there. Is there any way to move the start back a week?

Greg Carlen   March 13, 2013 at 10:08am

bye week over the 4th of July?

Matt Rinker   March 13, 2013 at 10:14am

yes, bye week for the fourth. if we move it back a week, don't you still miss 2 weeks either way? Are you asking to move the start to 4/17? If so the second half wont end b4 states, which I'm fine with, but I thought it would be fairer to give berths out based on how people did on the season, not part. But that's a good point about BG... more thoughts???

Joshua Siwek   March 13, 2013 at 10:50am

The past couple years our singles league has gone past the date of states with berths being awarded based on current standings instead of final standings, and it hasn't bothered me (granted, I've won my state berth from the league the last two years so maybe my opinion is biased) But, If ... more

Matt Rinker   March 13, 2013 at 11:34am

True. and if that's the route we take, then the second 10 week season will award berths after 8 weeks. It just seemed to make scene to have everything end b4 states so our fall could possibly be freer to maybe run a fall league. But we can still do that if summer league ends a week later. S ... more

Matt Rinker   March 13, 2013 at 11:35am

4/17 thru 6/19 and 6/29 thru 9/4 (correction)

Greg Carlen   March 13, 2013 at 12:53pm

Awesome. Count me in for all 20! Also I agree with dumping valley farms. There was a time when we only had the three courses, Fitz, GW, & VF. It made sense to play VF, to break up the monotony. Now with the various options available to us I don't think it's needed. Also with the round being rated, I would rather shoot a a "tourney" course in its place. JMO

Justin Abram   March 13, 2013 at 1:24pm

Will having all 20 weeks be (potentially) rated rounds severely lower the variety of courses we play? Would it be Woods, Burch, Sleepy, Woods Burch Sleepy, etc etc? Or will we still be able (and I'm okay w/not playing valley farm) to do Fitz, Lake Alliance, Lincoln Park, MSU (w/temp baskets)? ... more

Joshua Siwek   March 13, 2013 at 1:30pm

Sounds good to me Matt! I'm sure we'll talk more about it Monday.

Greg Carlen   March 13, 2013 at 2:04pm

IMO Alliance falls into the "non-tourney" level course and Lincoln isn't much better. Burch Fitz GW and Sleepy, 5 courses, 10 weeks twice each would be my opinion. I know this would never happen, but i would also drop fitz and sleepy. We are the Capital City Renegades not the Greater Lansing Area Renegades

Nate Upton   March 13, 2013 at 5:22pm

that would mean burchfield is out, leaving just valley farm and grand woods.

Mike Spagneto   March 13, 2013 at 8:58pm

i love what im hearing. dates, burths, courses. i cant wait.

Danny Benda   March 13, 2013 at 9:36pm

yes all this sounds wonderful especially without valley farms. the woods, fitz, sleepy, burch....these are our real, tough, "let's get it", kind of courses. the sanctioned 20 is without a dought the best way to go but thats just my opinion.

Danny Benda   March 13, 2013 at 9:48pm

no valley farms! f that! like kong said, "we are the CCR! Not greater lansing area renegades! with all do respect to all disc golfers whether ur a social discgolfer who goes out to the woods once or twice a summer, or anyone that plays religiously and does so because ur sweet at it, we are the ... more

Matt Rinker   March 13, 2013 at 10:46pm

Great feedback :) Sounds like we have come to some agreements. Yes, Valley Farms is out. If for no other reason, than the baskets are falling apart and it's unfair to sanction a round on a course that bad (at least the baskets at Fitz have chains and catch). And we are the CCR not because w ... more

Danny Benda   March 13, 2013 at 11:00pm

thats whats up! go CCR!

Jayne Snider   March 14, 2013 at 2:20am

i like the 5 course idea- gw, fitz, sleepy, and burch (x2). I will probably only play the second half, as I will still be stuck at the airport in april and unable to make any april league nights.

Jayne Snider   March 14, 2013 at 2:23am

if we can start late for BG ams, can we skip pro worlds week too? Just saying. :)

Jayne Snider   March 14, 2013 at 2:28am

another idea that has worked great in MN: as the league grows, what is the likelihood of allowing a flex start between say 2p and an hour before the shotgun start? with so many players, we often pushed daylight last season. Wondering if someone would be available to run this every week to help Matt ... more

Matt Rinker   March 14, 2013 at 12:39pm

The real problem with the staggered tee times is that all these rounds are rated. If we're not all shooting in the same conditions, the rating are inaccurate. If we did the stager start, I'd need to know who teed off at what time, if the weather became crappy, I'd need to know when. ... more

Greg Carlen   March 14, 2013 at 12:39pm

The only reason that I asked about BG is that between 5 of us that go there are 50 years of combined league play. I know of more that are going as well. How many are going to Pro Worlds from our club. I love the staggered start idea. As far as tags go, you dont have to put it in if you are playing e ... more

Derek Boda   March 14, 2013 at 4:19pm

Mike Spagneto   March 14, 2013 at 11:37pm

Danny Benda   March 20, 2013 at 2:34pm
