Hindsight is always 20/20. Let's hope TD's in TN learn from this event.

First, I don't recall seeing a flyer or anything saying this tournament was 2 - 24 hole rounds. If it was out there, okay... my bad for not seeing it. I definitely wasn't prepared for that much golf.

Second, great job in making the tourney pre-registration only. HORRIBLE job in not sticking to your 100 player maximum. Accepting more than 100 players led to all the problems this tournament had.

The field being so large (2/3 of the holes had 5 players on them) caused the first round to go 4.5 hours. My round ended at 1:45 pm. Now starving, I'm being told round 2 tee time is 2:15 pm. 30 minutes is simply an unsatifactory break between 4.5 hour rounds!

The next bad decision, in an effort to speed up round 2 and finish before dark, the TD eliminated hole 18. This is the hole he felt caused the slow down. COME ON... one hole is not the issue and certainly didn't aide in finishing before dark. I played the last 3 holes in complete darkness. The smart choice here would have been to eliminate all the temp holes for the second round.

Speaking of temp holes... I honestly believe they caused more of a problem than adding fun and exciting golf to this tournament. 4 of the six holes involved waiting on traffic and walkers because you are throwing over a walking path, a road, or could potentially land in the road. Then there was Hole A, the island hole. This hole was unfair to 75% of the field. Short island holes are challenging, but a 400' island hole is ridiculous.

I hope these comments are taken as a way to improve future tournaments! I heard it said at the beginning of the day that the disc golf community needs to communicate better! No reason a flyer shouldn't be posted on every TN Club's website for all TN tournaments ! Hold true to your field limits! Give ALL players the standard 1 hour lunch break! Make smart format choices based on your tournament start time and time of year.

Jeff - Thanks for the information and yes - all flyers should be posted on all TN Club websites and anywhere else - when and if possible. Unfortunately, we cannot post them everywhere we would like them to be posted. Every flyer that's on a website, printed and posted somewhere, and on Disc ... more

just for my own understanding... Robert, can you tell me where the flyer is posted on www.cloud9discgolf.com? Or at the very least, where it states on that website the format for the tournament? Since this is the website listed at pdga.com, it would be the most important website to have a flyer posted. Also, I appreciate the way you received my comments! Thanks!
