Maybe it's time to change the basket locks on the Salem courses... I'm trying to wrap my mind around why 15's basket was taken and not 17 or 18... They would be a lot easier to snag being close to the parking area. Maybe 15 was taken as a trophy after an ace? Just seems weird?

its unlikely that keys got used too take the basket probly not locked or, bolt cutters. just my opinion

I agree, but, some of the locks are really hard to get to latch due to rust and from not being regularly greased... I know some of Keizers are about shot... I'm working on a line to get free locks, we'll see how that goes.

You can put new locks, greased locks or weld them into the sleeves. If the low-life,worthless piece of shit wants to steal a basket, they are gonna get it. The last time a basket was stolen and the people caught, what happened? NOTHING!! Make the ass-holes who steal park baskets responsible for it a ... more

True but why not cut 17's lock that sits 10 feet from the road? I'm guessing the lock was not fully latched which makes it a lot easier for a meth head to get an easy recycle $20...

The only thing I can think of is if the basket was in 15 short then it was the closest basket that provides "cover" from the parking lot. That way they could take their time getting it out of the sleeve and not be seen by someone in the parking lot.

Just seems that it had to be unlocked/unlatched. Someone saw it and came back after dark to carry it away unseen. But I agree with the possibility of a reward being offered. Has anyone called the metal recyclers to see if one has been brought in?

It was in the long on Monday, the 21st, before it went missing.

For the record, when #9 basket at Woodmansee was stolen, something was done. I immediately reported it to the Salem PD and I requested CCDG be named as a victim as well as Salem parks, then I registered the stolen basket with the Crime Prevention Unit with a photo and that was sent to every pawn sho ... more
