Stumptown Slosh #4 was the series finale and took place in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, February 18, at the Lunchtime Disc Golf Course. This PDGA sanctioned C-Tier event was a first for the course and there were 70 disc golfers who came out to compete and enjoy the new baskets that the previous three events successfully raised funds for in order to replace the old baskets.
If the weather in Portland was anything like it was here on the northern Oregon coast, the name fit the tournament well, as it was extremely rainy and rather chilly on Saturday in the Pacific Northwest.
It was local Michael Medlock who won the open division with a final score of 10-under par. He had a second place finish at the first series event, and was fourth in the second Stumptown Slosh. Medlock also had a couple of victories in 2011 in the advanced division, at the Bad Monkey Open and the Next Adventure's Amateur Championship.
Sean Bolen of finished in second place, scoring 6-under par, while Doug Saulter of Portland came in third with a final score of 3-under par. He had a win in the Whistin' Disc Open in the masters division last July. In fourth place, was Jeremy Fancher of Portland, scoring 2-under par. Fancher had a victory at last year's Squirrel Open and a fifth place finish at the Oregon Championships, both in the advanced division.
Mike Key finished in fifth place scoring at even par, while Jeremy Beckwith had a sixth place finish with a final score of 8-over par.
Suzie Wagner won the open divison for the women with a final score of 7-over par, while Emma Rose Hanley of Forest Grove, Oregon finished in second place, scoring 18-over par. Hanley was the women's open division winner at the first event of the series in November.
The advanced division win went to Brandon Hansell, with a final score of 6-under par, while Ned Blaisdell of Beaverton, Oregon followed in second place scoring 3-under par. Erin Reichel was the winner for the women in the division with a final score of 15-over par, while Tanya Spence followed in second, scoring 17-over par.
Nate Kabza of Portland won the advanced masters division scoring 1-over par, while the advanced grandmasters win went to Garry Hanley of Timber, Oregon, with a final score of 11-over par. Finally, Bryant Johnson was the winner of the intermediate division, scoring 2-over par, while Brea Kwan won for the women in the division.
Congratulations to all the winners and competitors on a great day of disc golf!
