Results for the 2012 Bag Tag Finals - Redan Saturday 12/08
We had a great day for the 2012 ADGO bag tag finals @ Redan. 28 disc golfers gathered to temps in the upper 50’s. The day-long cloud cover kept temps very pleasant. We did not have any rain until very close to the end of the Finals round.
As normal, brackets were set up for the Match format games. We paid out the top 4 spots in both the A & B pools. Payout was as follows:
A Pool ($520 total)
1st - $250
2nd - $150
3rd - $80
4th - $40
B pool ($195 total = $130 base + $65 added from 13 person paying the $5 buy-in)
1st - $94
2nd – $57
3rd – $29
4th - $15
We had a small change of rules from previous years. This year we did allow player’s who had 1st round byes, to buy into the B pool if they lost their 1st round match.
In the 9 hole match for 3rd & 4th in the B pool Miles Long (#35) took 3rd place and the #34 tag by defeating J.K. (#34).
In the A pool myself (#7) and Mark Spaugh (#8) opted to split 3rd & 4th cash.
Both 18 hole finals matches (A & B pool) were very close. I walked the final 9 holes with them.
In the B pool, Brad Traylor (#28) played Jason O’Herron (#32). Jason had a 2 hole lead starting the back 9. Brad brought it back to even by the time they reached hole #13.
Brad matched Jason with birdies on #14 & #16, but strong side-arm drives by Jason on
13, 15, & 17 closed out the match with 1 hole left to play.
In the A pool (Jay Norman (#1) and Josh Henley (#5) were having an even closed match.
Jay was leading by 1 hole after 9 (Josh taking holes 3, 7, & 8; with Jay taking holes 4, 5,
6, & 9). Josh tied it back up on hole 10. Jay took 11 & 13 to go up by 2. Josh tied it
again taking holes 15 & 17.
A light mist started as they walked to hole 18. A push on 18 sent them to hole 3 for
sudden death. Both had drives within approx 30 feet of the basket. Josh’s putt hit the
right side of the chains and kicked out. Jay’s putt hit dead center of the chains right
above the basket and stayed in for the win.
Congratulations to Jay Norman, who took home the #1 tag, but also the $250 cash prize.

2013’s league will be starting up in late January or early February. I am planning to
order 100 tags for 2013.
