As one of disc golfs most generous and charitable organizations, I am asking my fellow DGOD members to help make this Christmas, a "Christmas From Home" for a Unit of American Soldiers stationed at a forward operating base in Afghanistan. One of our fellow disc golfers, Bill Harpster, has a son stationed at this base which has no PX. Bill and I have began a Donation Drive of basic needs for these 20 men and women who dont have the opportunity to purchase these necessities but rely on the kindness of family and friends here in the States just for basic things. I will post the list of items being asked for by these troops and hope the generousity of our local disc golfers will again shine through. I know that the items requested SHOULD be made more available to our troops and not have to be asked for. But thats not for me to decide or question. I only know that these brave men and women are being asked to do a job, like it or not. I dont support war or sending our children into harms way but by GOD I refuse to see them without these basic human needs. If I am only able to collect one book of stamps and two pairs of socks, I will be sending what I can on December 1st so that the Packages From People Who Care will reach these 20 people in time to feel a little closer to home. I will be at TEAM DISC GOLF this Saturday at Milo with boxes to send to Afghanistan. Please read the list and bring what you can to add to the Christmas From Home. I will also post a list of Non-Acceptable items that will not be allowed so keep your favorite porno and send socks or razors. I thank Dan Brown for allowing me this Forum to make my plea for donations. Please help however you can, even a friendly card or letter to someone you may never meet but change thier lives forever. See you at Milo on Saturday!!
