All,

I spoke with Mr. Dave Taylor (he called me). He read my email and could sense my excitement (shoot I think the dead can sense my excitement). He's flying solo on this project!! Here's the skinny:

1. Proposed 9-hole course at the Rising Sun Veterans Park, a little bit shorter than the Hills. Includes elevation changes, a creek, only one blind shot from the tee, 250-300 foot holes, envisions par 3s. One potential set back, not sure about a playground, may want to redesign hole 9 so the playground isn't in play; however, he really likes hole 9.

2. Wants his commish to come check out the Hills. I told him to let us know and we'll give him the royal tour and a thorough explanation of the sport.

3. Undecided on tee pad type, may go with grass.

4. Liked my idea of rolling up there enforce rather than paying a pro. Thinks more people would help promote the sport and would be able to better explain certain things. Definately likes the ideas of clinics as fundraisers.

5. Wants us to come look at the proposed course. I said that we have portables and we can come set up the course (or at least a few holes at a time) and play it. Then we can give him an unbiased opinion/feedback. He really likes this idea/approach. I explained that we play in a league on Sunday AMs and that I was sure a handful of us would skip the league to come up to Cecil to meet-n-greet and play his design. I asked if he went to church and he said he wasn't sure if his commish did. He asked if we could come up after our league. I told him he'd have a mutiny because of Ravens games. He agreed and asked if we would be able to come later, say around 4:30 or 5-ish on Sunday, October 24th. I said I'd ask the group. He said he'd talk to the commish and will let me know what dates will work for him. Don't know about you all, but I'd gladly pass on tags for a week to go survey a new spot for us all to throw bees. Agree/disagree??

6. Said he may need laborers to help put in the course (if approved). I explained the possibility of the Scouts and other youth groups, I also said that we may be able to help in that area. Could be our first Club Activity. Can't think of any better way to get warmed up then to go and help put in a new course.

7. Says city is committed to buying the baskets. Will depend on budgeting.

8. We didn't talk $$ at this juncture and don't think it's appropriate to do so at this time.

9. Think its a win-win for all parties involved. So who's with me to head to Rising Sun sometime in the near future to help get another course in the area...?

Sorry for the length of this post; however, this is a great opportunity for the SHDGC....
