League News

Informal leagues
We are done with the official leagues for the spring and summer session but we're still meeting up on Wednesday nights and playing a different format week after week. All are welcome to join us so please come on out!
The Home Stretch
Say it ain't so.

Wednesday, August 26th is in fact here and it's the last night of the summer league. It has been an amazing 11 weeks and it we are looking to wrap up the summer league on a high note.

Many of you have noticed the unbelievable changes that the course is under going at Valley View. That is partially because of people like you. People that care about the course and more importantly, respect it. Look for even more changes such as additional pin placements come next spring.

We are set on the idea of some form of a loosely based league for the fall. We can discuss it further at the end of season player's party hosted by THE PASSPORT. It will take place immediately following the round on Wednesday night. See you all there.
2 Disc Night on 8/12/09
The updated stats will be posted on Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.

However, I wanted to write and send a few reminders.

1) Wednesday night will again be 2 disc night. You can only bring 2 discs to play with.

2) I will not be present but instead Jonny V & Kevin & helpers will be able to administer league.

3) If anyone else cares to miss Wed night action you are welcome to come to the Germantown Youth Futures 4th Annual Disc Golf Extravaganza. It is very low key, has a $3 entry and with that you'll receive a custom disc and a coupon for a snack onsite. If there are any proceeds (which is unlikely) they all benefit the non-profit group, The Germantown Youth Futures. Games and prizes will be awarded.

I will see everyone else on the 19th it looks like!

PS - Look for another 'Super Sunday' event to take place on Sunday, August 23rd and then some form of Ace Race in September.
Back @ It!
Hey everyone,

I've recovered from both Worlds and the fact that both Brian Ish and I each turned a day older yesterday. We are ready to rock and roll with some hot Wednesday night league action and hopefully everyone is looking forward to it!

Tonight should be a fun night after a week off so now that the scores are posted we'll look for you on the course and at the Passport afterward.

Thanks!
Double Points Night
*THIS SATURDAY IS THE VALLEY VIEW OPEN*

July 15th is a big night if you're hoping to be 'in the hunt' for the overall points titles and trophies at season's end.

You want to know how your closest rivals are doing so it will be a divisional night where you play with the people that are somewhat near you in the overall points standings.

Let's hope the rain holds off so we can have a great night. Bring your bug spray if you don't like mosquitoes. Also, please get there by 5:45 so we can keep things moving along.
It's Moving Time
2 Disc Night is in the books and just as I've stated in the past - I think it typically brings out the best in people. We all know that your bag is filled with choices. Well, when you go to an easier course such as Valley View sometimes you need to not think but instead just throw. Some very impressive scores this week including a personal best by Scott Slauson with a -16. Unfortunately, league director, Terry Miller had a season best score of -17 to take home the weekly title. What hole was missed? Hole 6.

With all of the divisions so highly contested it looks like double points night is bound to shake a few things up. Will you be there? Will you perform under the pressure? Are you shooting up or falling behind? Be there to rack up some points and then patronize our sponsor - the Passport.

JULY 18TH IS THE VALLEY VIEW OPEN - BE THERE!
2 Disc Night
You can leave your bags in the car along with your stack of discs because week 4 is the ever so popular - 2 disc night! That's right - you can only bring along 2 discs for competition.

As usual, weeks 5 and 10 will both be double points night so look for that next week. Looking forward to seeing all of you in just a couple of days.

PS - A friendly reminder of the Valley View Open on Saturday, July 17th. Be there!
Week 3 is here
It looks like we are rolling right into week 3 of the summer edition of Wednesday Weeklies!

Week 2 was very hot and very muggy but I'm certain that was the cause for some very hot shooting. Scores were very competitive across the board which is a good thing to see.

One of the brand new tee signs we just installed had some marking on it so I sprayed it and it came right off. However, sometime between Thursday, June 25th and Sunday, June 28th we had some vandalism to the signs. A good rule of thumb is that no one should ever be touching these tee signs for any reason what so ever. If you see someone doing anything to a tee sign ask them politely to stop.

These signs were not designed to have aces scribbled on them or any other markings for that matter. Let's keep these signs and this course looking good!

PS - We can all thank Cory Naber for NOT getting into the ace pool last week. He hit an ace on hole 17 which is good for a "1" on his scorecard but he couldn't collect the ace pool because he didn't throw a "1" into the ace pool before league started. Thanks again Cory!
