Apparently the scores posted the first time... Unfortunately every time I post them my computer screen goes blank, so I attempted to post them numerous times and they posted them 3 times. Whoops. My bad.

initiative is always welcome.
i agree about the ace fund... the bigger the better.

hopefully being from warren, you won't mind if I attend and give some fundraising input? Also, the ace fund is high on the list of why I drive an hour to come play on Tuesdays if it means anything.

so then...lets just continue with business as usaual at the scrambles. ace funds get capped at $300 and a 6pm Tee Off. teams are drawn at 5:55.
we are scheduling a meeting for Sunday AUG 21 at hudson springs 2pm. we have a lot of things to cover for the very near future. so any ideas for fundraising, course improvements, club membership purks, etc. can be put on paper and organized.
hopefully that is enough time for you guys to plan in advance.

In short, taking away the ace fund,or capping it lower, will hurt attendance greatly.Less people attending= less $$$ for the club.

Here's an original idea,how about a fundraiser!

Can someone please explain to me why we are trying to push away players? I'm all for starting on time, but some of the decisions and thoughts being tossed around lately just do not make sense.

Why would we cannibalize the ace fund now? Half of it is gone. How many people come out just for that chance at the $300 ace fund, and if it was all gone now, they wouldn't show up. Now there is still $300, and we have a good amount of people showing up to fill up the next one. the more people ... more

Scramble TEE-OFF is at 6pm sharp (soon to be moved earlier, to conserve daylight). Please arrive at least 5-10 min early for random draw. Calling to inform that you are running behind will not work. If you are not included in this random draw, we won't take your money, and you won't be included in the scramble. (you're more than welcome to play with us, just not for the $$). No more exceptions.

Katie has done a great job reiterating this, I just wanted to clarify for everyone on DGS.

If you want a shot at our ace fund, show up on time. Thanks!

there are two ways that true democracy solves minor disagreements like these. a show of hands is the easiest way to solve a quarry among a group of people, and when that fails you resort to my personal favorite... coil flip. nothing says fair like a 50/50 chance.

we as a group should not, and cannot count on just one individual to take care of everything for us and remember every detail.
if you noticed that the vote that you were waiting for never occurred, say something. speak up.

Why was the practice basket even purchased? The #1 complaint about Hudson is the teepads. The practice basket was a big purchase that zapped the clubs $$$. Why no vote on that? I feel it was $$$ not well spent. You want to vote on playing an extra hole, whether to cap the ace fund, etc.but no vote on major expenses.I call bullshit!

Mitch Renwick    July 28, 2011 at 2:15am

so if daylight is quickly becoming a concern, why add an extra hole to the mix?

Katie Meloy    July 28, 2011 at 12:37am

The whole revamp of the course was to avoid congestion.. I.E.. 18's basket was changed to a "practice" basket so that no one was throwing on 18 when someone is throwing on 10. We are no longer throwing over the walking path on the back 9, to avoid hitting people, etc etc.... That is why it's now a practice basket. I could care less if we play the thing during scrambles and personally am tired of going back and forth about it on here. We can vote next week, Greg I'd love it if you could handle it and take a count and then we'll go from there. Problem fixed.

When the practice basket was hole 18,not 1 person had a problem w/ it. People used it to practice for 20+ yrs. Now because the basket has the word "practice" on it,it becomes a problem? I don't follow the reasoning here.

I can say that I feel the same about the practice basket, but since more than one person has commented on it, it seems to be the belief that it's something that we should vote on. I also feel as if we shouldn't combine the holes, only because we were trying to leave the front 9 "beginner friendly".. as far as the 530 start goes, it's going to have to be pushed up eventually.. I'm not sure what else I can say about it. In regards to the groups of 6.. what other options are there? I'd love to hear some ideas..

Mitch Renwick    July 27, 2011 at 9:39pm

you change the time to 5:30 and you're going to lose players. You have to keep people's work schedules in mind. What needs to happen is that we are ready to go at 6, no more waiting around because so and so is running late, no more groups of 6, and speed of play needs to be a concern.

I also do not see the need for a vote on playing 19. why have mobs of people throwing at it when it says practice on it. Medina has a practice basket, do you see people adding a tee in just to play 19 ... more

My apologies. By the time we got started it was already too late to vote, and even if we did we would have got done even later. We do have some issues that we need to vote on as a club though. Eric mentioned another change that would include combining holes 1 and 2. This would mean that we would have to play old 18 to have 18 holes. Hopefully everyone that is a club member will be there early enough to cast a vote on both issues. I get the feeling we're going to have to change the time to 530 sooner than everyone thinks...

What happened to the vote?

I think Katie mis-spoke a bit. The park wanted old 17s basket moved because of the playground. Old 18 was removed to take the parking lot out of play. If the park really did have an issue with 18 being so close to the parking lot, then we should not use it for the league scrambles. I will still throw it on my own though for fun. Also, you have "practice" on the basket. so when joe shmoe comes up to practice while a scramble is being played, what are you going to do? yell at the g ... more

If we have it,we should play it. It's not too hard to add a hole to a scorecard. Why do we need to change the format on here? Just note that 19 holes were thrown when adding the scores. I thought hole 18 was moved because of the proximity to hole 10's tee(too close for tourny play)I have never witnessed a drive land in the playground, on old 18.
