Only 2 Monday's left. MCCG starts on the 5th so the SIP will play tomorrow (3/22 and the following Monday, 3/29. I will speak with the owner of Sunnybrook to see how it all sounds for October. Tomorrow night - Red Wings vs. Penguins should be on the big screen. Yeeha!

I agree with the A and B pools in order to challenge your self you need to either play against people that will challenge you and also have a partner that expects an A pool performance and if you play in the B pool you wont feel as if your letting your partner down. Either way this is a means of practice but just as everything else you should practice the way you would play in a tournament with the pressure !

Well, as expected, Excel made the night much simpler.
The snow may have played a part at keeping the crowd down but we still had 28 players again.
4 games - 7 elimination rounds, - great eight to determine winners up to 3 places and I was hom by 10:30. You guys rock!
I like the doubles winners squaring off against one another - sounds like a great idea.
THINK: March 8th is a BYOP night.
Start sending me your teams and I willl post them as I receive them...

I wasn't complaining (was awesome)....I agree I just think 4hrs with 2 = 8hrs with 1. You could have the winning team play singles against each other for something....that would be interesting.

I know I won't be able to make it there on time tonight...no reason to cancel the event, though. I don't think 4 hours is anything to complain about. It's an evening hanging out with friends, playing putting games. I'd imagine the same thing over at Bee's place goes much longer than that. With less time, nobody gets a chance to rest and chill, and I really don't think anybody wants monday night putting to me "OMG! RUSHRUSHRUSHRUSH! MUST PUTT NOW!!!" madness. I don't think 4 hours is anything to complain about. It's an evening hanging out with friends, playing putting games. I'd imagine the same thing over at Bee's place goes much longer than that. With less time, nobody gets a chance to rest and chill, and I really don't think anybody wants monday night putting to me "OMG! RUSHRUSHRUSHRUSH! MUST PUTT NOW!!!" madness. Well, ok maybe Mike, but he's about the most hyper person in disc golf! :D

That said, I really don't think singles is the way to go. It more than doubles the amount of bookkeeping, and it gains nothing other than giving Nate Buban his way, which nobody cares about. heh. I think multiple sets of doubles is a better idea, so nobody has to rush to get there on time, and people don't have to stick around for the whole night if they don't want to. Show up, play a set or two, be on your way... Or, show up, play a set, sit out a set and hang out with friends, then play another set, and so on...Pay out as the sets end, take money before the next one, and so on. I seem to recall that's the way things go at Bee's place, and it works rather well.

Maybe a singles, no round robin, double elimination bracket style tourney? $1 per round. so 32 down to 16 is $1 per player and loser pays the winner and so on and so forth? Just an idea.

BTW, Darren - I got there this Monday around 5:15 to set-up and got home around 11:15. There were still people bowling and plenty of people sitting in the bar. I think we actually got done putting around 10:30 ish. I can see how the drive from where you are coming from would be very difficult. Helicopter?

WOW, I turn my back for a few hours and a ton of good disc-ussion ensues. Thanks to everyone for their solid input and it is all taken in. Listen, I cannot say this enough, even to those who want to give up after 1 week: We have an opportunity to establish a long term relationship inside during the long winter months for some putting fun, competition, and BEER TOWERS. We have completed 2 weeks and have learned a lot on how to make this a solid night out for everyone, the very talented and the no ... more

Listen, I cannot say this enough, even to those who want to give up after 1 week: We have an opportunity to establish a long term relationship inside during the long winter months for some putting fun, competition, and BEER TOWERS. We have completed 2 weeks and have learned a lot on how to make this a solid night out for everyone, the very talented and the not-so-talented. Both weeks we have implemented different solutions from format changes to technology while fitting 38 people into a nice room that is too small to expand or fit many more. An alternative would be to split up and go to a 2 night rotation - Monday and Wednesday. I can do one night but not two. I already give up my entire Saturday so if someone out there wants to champion Wednesday nights I think we can split up and make the evenings flow a bit better. If not, we will all stay on Monday and work this out until the end of March. Having the Excel file ready to go will be a HUGE time saving tool As we approach the last two weeks of March the plan is to have a BYO Partner. Maybe we implement that strategy after next week and see how it goes so we something to benchmark for the end of March. Lets see how the Excel file helps next week and think about BYOP for March 1st. If anyone wants me to e-mail them the Excel file for a preview and some suggestions - LMK and I will e-mail it right over. Keep the dialogue coming - it's all GOOD!

Another suggestion would be starting later like 7 or have 2 sessions one early and one late I know alot of people work till 5 and then traffic is a ****! how late is the place open?
