Fair enough for me, to keep it the way it is. But the point here is that, has anyone even gotten -15 yet? No and whomever that brought this up in the first place, it's unwarranted and baseless, period. So in my opinion if anyone starts with a -15 handicap, then it's fine with me considering that they'll more likely shoot several throws over par more often than not. Barring a great round by them that day & shooting even...then props to them. The handicap may inflate their ... more

Though, the player with the 17 handicap should come back next week with a lower handicap.

I guess I will keep talking about this even though NOTHING WILL BE CHANGED in 2010 SUMMER SINGLES LEAGUE. The handicap cap is called a Hall Monitor, it would make the highest amount of strokes you can get through handicap 15 strokes.

Does this defeat the purpose of a true handicapping system, I think so!

Does the current system work? I think so.

So why has this come up, if a player with a 0 handicap plays against a 17 handicap player, and the 17 shoots par, that means the 0 has to shoot a -18 to win (A tough score to get anywhere).

Also, all players have a DGU handicap and a League Handicap. These will usually be close but not always the same. This is a function of DGU and can be confusing and will be reviewed before our next league.

Just everyone remember, the league is a living breathing and changing organism, not everything is perfect, and most everything is a learning process.

I put this on so we can make new friends and for fun and friendly competition. I will take everything into consideration, and try to accom ... more

I have no intention to cap the handicaps. I do have that option, but I will not be implementing it in this league. In future leagues this may be a option, but this will not happen in the 2010 Summer Singles League.

Is it true that the handicaps may be capped at 10 or something next week or so? I don't think it's the right thing to do. If so, then it seems silly and unfair that one's complaining about the handicap taking away their wins or whatever. There's some players who had won the doubles or other singles format a handful of times. I think that this handicap is a good thing to keep the newer & inexperienced players coming back because it evens everything out.

John Buck made a good point:

"Suppose I use that handicapping system & scored a -19 one of these days. It would translate into 1 ace...is it possible to win that ace-fund automatically without hitting an ace theoretically??"

To this I reply:

"Well John, you could in theory score a 1 on a hole, but it would not be an Ace by definition, and would not win the Ace Fund. We have so many new players this year, this handicapping should give everyone a fair chance to cash."

If we use Disc Golf United for Handicapping it will cost everyone a one time $10 dollar fee. It worked well last year, and I suggest we use it again! If someone know a way we could do the handicapping ourselves, it would save us money. Though, using DGU is unbiased and a neutral party, so I like the fairness of it.
