Averages and Handicap - How to Calculate a Golf Handicap"
An established player's (those who have played at least one game in one of the two previous seasons) handicap will be calculated as an average of the lowest five scores from your last 10 games. There is a limit of 18 on the handicap. There is a max 4 over par on any given hole. If a player threw more than 18 over par, 18 will be used to calculate that player’s handicap.
There will also be an adjustment to new players’ first three handicaps. (Note: a new player is someone who has not played at lease one round in the two previous seasons.) New players’ first two rounds will not be handicapped. After two rounds and up to round nine, a new player’s handicap will be an average of half of the lowest rounds. (i.e. If you have played six rounds, then on your seventh round your handicap will be an average of your lowest three previous rounds. On your eighth round your handicap will be calculated from the lowest scores three scores of the last seven rounds.) The purpose of these changes is to mitigate the impact of a beginner golfer's extremely high scores recorded in the first few rounds. This will add a level of fairness to the established players and encourage more experiences players to join us next season.
(In an attempt to be thorough I may have made this appear confusing. It is not. Just come and have fun.)
The weekly payout will be paid out (approximately) to the top third of the field in an amount to TBD. Details will be available before the beginning of each round after the close of sign in.
We hope to see you there.

Rule Change - More Details.
Jump in any time. ! This is a Win-Win modification to the league. Golfers no longer are required to get your first round in during the first three weeks.
You will still need to play two rounds to establish a handicap. You will still need to have played one round in the last two seasons to maintain the handicap. Sorry, no rounds played prior to this season will be considered for establishing a handicap.

Rule Change. Come when you can.
We have agreed on a rule change. Starting immediately the three week entry rule is gone. New players can start any week to begin establishing a handicap. This means payouts further down in the player list (3rd and 4th place ) more cash in the pot for all. Spread the word and invite your friends to join us next week. Next Monday is a holiday, so we should have a big crowd. Please make sure that your friends do know that they will not get a handicap for the first two rounds.
See you all there.
