We are just going to keep the ace pool for now, probably carry it over to next season. There was no clear consensus..

SATURDAY DUBS MOVES TO LAKESHORE. FIRST ROUND THIS SATURDAY, 5/9. BRING $5 AND BE THERE AT NOON.
i'll be there this saturday 5/9 to collect $$$. i have no idea what's up with ace pool and will not be collecting, so bring $5. blue tees, 100% payout based on 101 payout table. if the numbers work we'll do pro/am. there's no tourny this sat, so if everyone gets the word out, i anticipate a good turnout.

its not that hard to freeze the ace pool I did it at my league for bandy. tuck it away and dont touch it not that hard. if league is over than hold on to it or carry it thru the summer with the same pool

How about a League Mini for the regulars. Put the money to a mando ace pool payout or added cash for the payout. Someone has to know the regulars so have a pre-reg on the scene (boot those who do not qualify).

-OR-

Hold a charity event, ask for donations to enter, pay out in prizes (leftover Jumbo toss stuff, etc), then take the donations and old ace pool money and give it to a charity. Good PR if you let the right people know.

Why not just freeze the ace pool at its current level, and pay it out this summer to an ace at leagues, but only if the person who aced paid in during the winter. We have the list of people that played. I guess it would require honesty, since there is no list of people who played, but didn't put into the ace pool.

that does seem to be the most fair idea, and i like it. if people are honest, it would work great.

I think Janzilla is on to something. I support the idea of free dubs for previously paid players.

Last year I ran dubz and it was free. There was some left over point series $$$......or something. Why don't you run free dubz for anyone that has paid into the Ace pot for Saturday and payout with that money. The guys who showed up last year were honest about if they had paid in or not. It worked very well last year and got a huge positive response.

Details of an ace pool:
- dollar amount to buy in
- payout system (e.g. full amount, 50%, etc.)
- cutoff date
- what happens to any remaining cash after the cutoff date

I don't think any of those details should be changed while there is money in the pool.

There are several possibilities to get rid of the money- an ace race, CTP, additional payouts- but those all favor a random element that may be unfair to the players who have money in the pool. If it comes down to it, I think the current ace pool cash just needs to be put in a sock drawer to hibernate through the off-season.

If nothing else, this suggests that the fate of the ace pool should be decided at the start of the season, or whenever it gets cleaned out.

i'll be there when i can to take $5 and make sure **** runs smooth. i have no interest in keeping track of other people's $.

3 options so far, as i see it-

1. pay out the ace pool this saturday at dubs

2. someone volunteers to collect and keep ace $ every saturday this summer. if they can't be there, they will have to arrange for someone to collect for them that day.

3. nothing happens until the fall when 101 starts running dubs again.

i'm sure there are other options. anyone?

I agree with Pete

Pete, that would be the preferred option but there are a few issues working against that. Saturday dubs isn't very active during the summer, no one from the 101 can guarantee to be there every week to collect. I'm afraid the ace pool money will just sit until the fall when dubs can get back to regular attendance. I would like to get it off our books - so to speak during this season. But I see your point on people paid in to the pool understanding it was for an ace. So tbd at this point

but then someone has to volunteer to collect ace pool $. not it.

I think the ace pool money should remain ace pool money- that is, it gets paid out only for an ace. That will be the most straight-forward option, no vote, no argument, done.

Local 101 has the ace pool, which is at $158 right now.

I will ask our core members what we should do with it. Our goal is to try and get it back in the hands of the people who paid in. Please post suggestions. My initial thought would be to donate it to the payout for this week, making it a super awesome BIG doubles at Lakeshore on Saturday.
