August 5th Jamboree Singles

Thanks to all 16 players that showed up to celebrate 1 year of action at McCurry. Dave Douglas won a 2011 Ace Race pack with his CTP on 1. Kevin McCoy won a new Innova Krait and Blizzard Destroyer with his CTP on 3 and longest drive on 7. Ralph took home a new Opto Flow with his CTP on 6. August 5th

This Sunday, August 5th, we will be celebrating 1+ years of action at McCurry. We will be doing singles rounds with lots of giveaways and prizes up for grabs. We are looking at doing 2 divisions, Open and Am. We will have discs, apparel and other assorted stuff to give out. Come on down and celebrate with us!

July 29th Singles

9 players this Sunday for handicapped singles. Don and Ralph both shot great rounds of 53 (56 scratch) to go into a playoff for first. The playoff lasted 4 holes with Don eventually coming out on top. CTPs went to Don on 1, Jeff on 5, Derek on 13 and Clay on 16. Ace fund goes to $98.

13 players for our biggest singles field yet. $65 in total payout. Fresh back from Worlds, Kevin decided to take out some frustration on the course and lit it up for a scratch 47! Jeff Sanders won a 4-way playoff to take home 3rd. CTPs went to Kevin on 4, Jason H on 6 and 12 and Miles on 15. In other news, we raised $100 today for Boy Scout Alan Bowers and his renovation of the Village Green course in Peachtree City. Thanks to everyone that came out to support his project.

August 5th will be our 1+ year Jamboree at McCurry. We will be celebrating 1 year of regular action at the course. We will have lots of prizes and giveaways. The format will be decided in the next few days. If you're on the fence about coming out to McCurry for the action, then let this be the week you make the trip.

Peachtree City Action

Hey Guys, Boy Scout Alan Bowers just had the baskets on the Peachtree City course stripped and powder coated, installed concrete tee pads, and cleaned up the course. Boy Scout Alan Bowers just had the baskets on the Peachtree City course stripped and powder coated, installed concrete tee pads, and cleaned up the course.

On Saturday he is having a fund raiser to get some of his outlay back.

In the morning we will play 18 holes (2 rounds of 9)

Registration ends at 9:45 and tee off at 10:00. Prizes include a mini from the world’s donated by Courtney McCoy, Kevin McCoy will be donating a valuable disc and there will also be dinner certificates and Starbucks certs.

Boy scout Alan has arranged for a snow cone machine, drawing for an airplane ride over Peachtree City and a few more things, starting around 12:30.

If you are interested in the competition we will see you at 10:00 or else just drop by and support the course.

Peachtree City Fundraiser

You Are Invited - Disc Golf Course Grand Reopening and Fundraiser on July 28

There will be a reopening and fundraiser event at the Village Green on Saturday, July 28, to celebrate Boy Scout Alan Bowers’ completion of his Eagle Scout Project, the renovation of the Disc Golf Course. His project included refurbishing the tee boxes, and sandblasting and powder coating the baskets. The park is located on Willowbend Road (between Hwy 54 and the churches). Please join us from 12:30 – 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, for the event.

July 15th Handicapped Singles

10 players for the return of handicapped singles rounds. Miles shot the hot scratch round at 52 but with his +2 handicap was raised to a 54. Tyson shot a scratch 55, dropped to a 53 with his handicap. Overall, the scratch rounds ranged from 52 to 70 but were brought together to a range of 53 to 60 with the handicaps. Very competitive day. CTPs went to Miles on 1, Don on 10 and Derek on 16 and 18.

Handicapped Singles resume Sunday, July 15th

We will resume handicapped singles this Sunday. In order for rounds to be rated by the PDGA we need 5 propagators to be present. Per the PDGA website: "A propagator is a current PDGA member whose rating is over 799 and is based on at least 8 rounds." Current regulars who are propagators are: Kevin McCoy, Courtney McCoy, Miles Long, Jason Hartley, Barry Arnson, and Clay Campbell. If we do not have at least 5 propagators present, we will do majority vote between handicapped non-sanctioned si ... more

We will resume handicapped singles this Sunday. In order for rounds to be rated by the PDGA we need 5 propagators to be present. Official July 8th Action Cancelled

Due to the Hotlanta B-tier tournament at JP Moseley on July 7-8, official action for Sunday July 8th at McCurry has been cancelled. Spectators are welcome at the tournament, so come on out and support your local Atlanta disc golf community and see some top pros in action as well!

Action will resume July 15th @ 10am as usual.

8 players showed up on a hot, hot day for scratch singles. CTP winners were Courtney McCoy with a park job on Hole 3, Clay Campbell on Hole 13, and Jason Hartley on Hole 16.

June 17th Handicapped Singles

Nice day for disc golf, but only 7 players showed. Miles Long took home CTP's on holes 4, 11, and 15, but was kind enough to let Tyson Puckett take home CTP on Hole 1.

On an overcast morning with rain before and after the round, 6 players braved the weather for our first handicapped singles play. CTP winners were Jason Hartley on Hole 6, Ralph Young on Hole 10, Anthony Mosel on Hole 16, and Courtney McCoy with Longest Putt on Hole 18.

Payouts were based on handicapped results.

Other Info: Handicapped scores are used for payout purposes only. Scratch scores will be submitted to the PDGA for round ratings. Handicaps are based off of current PDGA ratings and a McCurry par round of 57 which is rated ~ 930 (930 rated players will have a handicap of 0, handicap increases/decreases by 1 stroke every 10 rating points, ratings are rounded to nearest ten, i.e. 917 = 920). Players without a current PDGA rating who have been coming to singles action the past month, have been assigned a handicap using their scores. All other new to McCurry Singles players without a PDGA rating, will play their first week with a 0 handicap or be assigned a handicap at the TD's discretion. The first week of play, there will be no cap on handicaps. In future weeks the TD may place a cap at their discretion.

May 28th Singles

Had 6 Open and 6 Rec players this week on a humid Sunday morning with some wind. CTPs were swept by our divisional winners this week: Michael White (Rec CTP Hole 2 and Community CTP Hole 4) and Kevin McCoy (Open CTPs 2nd shot Hole 7 and Hole 18). Next Sunday will be doubles, and then PDGA sanctioned handicapped singles league will begin the Sunday after that (more information on that coming at a later date).
