It was a weather filled day with rain, snow, and 20-30mph winds which seemed to keep the scores close. Only 3 throws separated the field. Congrats to the 3-way tie winners - Jeff, Nate, Zach, Connor, and Nick C! The final payout included $344 dollars payed out to the 11 qualifiers who showed up. Added hats off to Todd who took home the $16 ace pool winning it on a CTP throw-off.

Small turnout but much fun was had. Jeff and Nate had problems returning to the winning for they had last week as they faltered down the stretch to an unimpressive -10. Jen and Mike kept on their heels and just missed beating them. Zach stole the show with a sweep: 5 shot cali win and both ctp's.
Information on the 3/31 finals will be posted soon, stay tuned!
The last wacky Sunday of the year was a memorable one which included an ace and a triple circle 8 on the same hole! Claiming fame to the ace is Jeff Kuehle and living in infamy are Chris Wabeke and Nick Campbell who failed to land their teeshots on the island green multiple times.
The format for the day was 1 disc only doubles where Jeff and Nate tied the league record with a -17 taking home top honors! They proved that it's a game mostly between the ears as league records can be set ...

This Sunday marks our last wacky Sunday so I believe that it would be fitting to make this the wackiest Sunday of all! 9 of the holes will feature either a mando, island green, elevated basket, or a no-chains basket. We'll be playing one of the following formats:
One Disc Only Doubles
Yes, you can only bring one disc on the course. If you lose it in the snow, you'll have to walk back to your car to get a new one.

Big time ace from Josh Miller! $130 in the bank and to top that off, he and Nick Campbell won with a -16 netting an additional $50. Save some cash for the rest of us! If you're counting, that's the third -16 we've seen this year tying for the top spot.
Week #9 we'll be starting fresh on the ace pool.

It was wacky Sunday #2 and mother nature threw a twist into the format with sub-zero temps. We played Best Score which made for a close battle - all teams were within 3 strokes! Todd and Dennis prevailed with consistent play and timely putting.
Added cash for 3/29 is at $164 and the ace pool is at $111.
1 new member - Josh Miller.
Be sure to bundle up today with minimal skin exposed. -Mom
This Sunday - 2/15 marks our 2nd Sunday of wackiness. As with the first one, rude play is encouraged. We'll be choosing randomly from the following options for play:
One Disc Only Doubles
Yes, you can only bring one disc on the course. If you lose it in the snow, you'll have to walk back to your car to get a new one.
Best Score Doubles
You and your partner play normal singles but you only record one score. I suggest you choose your lowest for the hole:)

I see that you're already trying to get in my head in preperation for the rude play. The only way you'll achieve that score is if you get paired up with me.
Yes, you may still play but if you have not played 1 week to this point, you cannot play for added cash on 3/29. Join us for weekly payouts and ace pool.
If you've played 1 week so far this year, you still have a chance to become a member and qualify for the finals on 3/29. Although you would have to show up each Sunday for the next 6 weeks. Anyone new to the league from here on out won't be eligible for finals. Here are some helpful reminders:
*You must play in at least 7 Sundays and be a HLoC member to play on March 29th for added cash. Your March 29th entry fee will be $5 + $1 for any league days that you missed prior to the 29 ...

We set another record today with 22 players! And, it is very possible that we set a new record with metal hits...I was a witness to 5 metal hits (maybe there were more) but still no aces! We're at $97 for the ace pool. As a reminder, members are entitled to 100% ace pool payout while non-members are able to net 50%.
It was a decent day even though the wind kicked up to make things challenging. Rob Buit of Putts and Pints fame partnered with Zach Vaughn to take home the 1st place pr ...

We had 7 die-hards come out today...thanks for coming out! We had at least an 1" of snow fall during the round, trudged through about 9" of snow and ice, played through 20+ mph winds, and the temperature felt like -2. With all of that, we still had two groups shooting -13 or better. Nice work Connor and Jeff in shooting a -14 to win it! Tyler carried Zach to a -13 to come in 2nd. Time to watch some football and eat some delicious food...
Hughes park teepads are still covered in ice adding to the challenge of this typically easy course. Most tees feature 3-4" of ice making efforts to clear them virtually impossible until we get an upper 30's thaw. Adding to the fun, we're supposed to get 3-5" inches of snow Sunday to add to the beauty of your round. Don't let that scare you off for this Sunday as our ace pool should crest $80. It is super bowl Sunday but we should be done around 4pm, time for you to get home and make a plate of nachos or chicken wings.
Last weeks slushy teepads turned into mini ice rinks for most holes as temperatures dropped back below freezing this week. Teams prepared with ice cleats faired best and dominated the leaderboard! Along with rough footing, the wind wreaked havoc on most teams and kept scores a bit higher than average. Congrats to Travis Prueter and Kyle Downing for taking home the CTP's for the week. A Big thanks to Big Lake Brewing for donating a CTP this week!
It was the first wacky Sunday and wacky it was as we used the format "Different Shot". Carl the snowman did a fantastic job guarding basket #9 & #13 and the taped basket on #8 & #14 wreaked havoc on at least two teams. Rising above the rude play were Zach and Ryan shooting a pedestrian -14 taking home a cool $25 each.

Hello there. This Sunday marks our first wacky Sunday golf where we'll be mixing up the format to add some excitement. The potential formats, determined by random after we draw teams, are as follows:

Yes, you can only bring one disc on the course. If you lose it in the snow, you'll have to walk back to your car to get a new one.
Best Score

Jeff W. & Randy proved this week that they belong in the League of Champions posting the hottest score in 2015 at -15. In other news, the Mando claimed many a victim this week with the worst being Tyler and Tim taking a 10 on the hole...ouch. If you missed it, the weather was great - sunny and 30 degrees. We only had to battle through 10" of snow. Zach took home both CTPs this week and is currently 3 for 3 on CTPs.
We have 5 new members - Nate Mihos, Tim Kolt, Jen Kuehle, Kyle Downing, and Jeff England bringing our total active members to 14.
Current added cash for 3/29 = $43
Week #2 should feel a little more like the 2014 season as there's been about 18" of new snow since last Sunday. Not to fear, that will likely pack down to around a foot of powdered fun. We're going to experience a heat wave as temps should rise to around 30 for Sunday's round. If you're a fan of the run-up throw, I would recommend that you bring a shovel to ensure our pads are clean.
Anne Hyzer's will be on hand with loads of discs so bring some cash if you're interested in acquiring some new plastic. Week #2 will also feature more CTPs courtesy of Anne Hyzer's and Big Lake Brewing.
Congratulations to Jeff England and Kyle Downing for winning week #1 with a -13! Zachary Vaughn took home the week #1 CTP...nice work. We currently have 9 league members.
If you were wondering how "points" work, we will simply be posting league earnings. If you place for the week, the dollar amount will be posted in the Overall Standings under your name. The overall standings will be used for bragging rights.

Hello there. I would like to remind you that league will be starting on Sunday at 2pm. We will be done in time for you to watch the Lions.
Greetings everyone. With the snow flying like mad, it feels like we should be spending our time at Hughes Park each Sunday. That time is drawing near, only 6 more Sundays until league starts!
