HI Foz, yes I like the idea, I'm not sure how it would work as far as linking to the A2 leagues. I think it might work for our club as an overall points race combining our leagues and the Match Play Challenge since they all run on the same format.

MI PS Logo

Mike - I think the current A2 CoPS logo is so good that it could be updated to replace Ann Arbor with Michigan on the banner at the bottom to server as the MI PS and then the main icon is consistent - that should make it fast and easy - you can send me the UI file and I will update it if that helps. We can over the next few weeks to months see if we can come up with a image that could be a consistent logo that can represent any PS that just needs to PS name added to it. Just an idea for a moto or tag line to promote and maybe for merch:

"United We Play" 2010 Disc Golf league.

Image T-shirts , bumper stickers, etc. - United We Play with a disc Golf basket and maybe something like the double player like Mike did for the Ypsi Dubs logo on one version - Rallying the idea that the players united for more fun and commemorate the year the MI leagues (soon all leagues) United to achieve greater things through the collaboration and cooperation of League ... more

It is fine. We all have to play nice. Its not a competition on who has the most people but a responsibility of the disc golf community to provide a place for for each and every player an opportunity to get out and have a competitive, friendly environment to play with their peers, which prepares them for local tournaments.
We all share players. One day the weather may favor a different day. A tournament may favor another. We are trying to create a local group of clubs that emphasizes group unity, excellent sportsmanship, talent, and charity.
I would like to join up with the Point Series. I will fill out the form this Friday due to my travels.
We should get together one weekend coming up and play around.
I hope you let Scott know my opinions and how much I am looking to the upcoming season. I do not talk with Scott often but plan on doing so.

I think that this is awesome and that a movement like this will catch on globally.
I cannot wait to goto the think tank meeting on what ever thursday it'll be. I havent talked the boys yet but I'm going to try and sway them into this. I want to learn more about the point system and weither or not it's up to the admin to assign points or if it's as simple as a auto fill when entering the scores and pete has it fill for you..

The final event can evolve over then next few months and hopefully we define some "regional officers" to help coordinate over the PS and gather support staff and ideas, maybe sponsorship for a final event. Mike & Scott both had the idea that maybe this could be combined with another doubles event, maybe even with the State Championship doubles and if we get some of those organizer and their local leagues that should be even easier but we can explore this over the next few months depending on how the momentum grows.

We need to brainstorm on how to wrap up a MI PS but what fun to see one leader board with all the state players listed and knowing that if you travel and have a chance to join in a league round you would get credit for that. I bet we would see more traveling players to different courses and league - Ideas and fun would just spread and grow.

The only stipulation is that the points entered into DGS must all be calculated the same way. This should'nt be a problem and there are ways of dealing with this if a league has to stay with some other point system, just a little duplicate effort.

You can by all means create a local or regional PS to build even more local rivalry and fun. I highly recommend it and we can assist in getting that setup for you. That was one of the goals of sending it out to all the guys making leagues happen throughout the state.

I'll keep you posted.

Our club in particular started with a summer dubs, grew to a dubs+singles. And now we are looking into adding a bag tag as well. We are open to all ideas and after speaking with the guys last night, we all agree that a point series would be benificial.

We will focus on answering any questions and collecting the list of those who want to participate.

I suspect we will get some suggestion for improvements or the like, which we will record for later discussion but we have to hold to what we have and get the Summer info set and prepare for linking these leagues and planning the "Highlighted League of the Week" schedule by Mid March - I hope most of this info is available by March 7th so we can begin the roll out during the Winter Final Event.

Thanks for everyone's time and efforts - As the data shows and I belive the level of fun we have all experience during the crazy Winter rounds - the PS is a great way to increase the fun, the interaction of the players, get's more players to more courses and leagues than they previous played - even without the league complete and I know the final event requires a lot of time and effort by many - but we, collectively have achieved and proven out one of the biggest advancements in DG in recent time - That's not a sales pitch or hot air - it wasn't people at PDGA, in another state, etc. It was just us working together and working smart (Thanks DGS!!!!) If you have ever dreamed of being a part of something big that people will look back at and wonder what it was like when they came up with this idea and how did they get it going - you just lived the successful birth of one - based on your cooperative efforts toward a common goal. Where does this go from here, how big can it get, how many players will it positively impact, how will it change the landscape of our favorite sport - believe it or not - the answers are all within you, and the next few months are going to be amazing

This would add a layer of fun on tournaments where the only focus is usually final score. If we amplify the final score importance by placing all of the points behind it then it only makes a tournament more 'tournament like' and less of a diverse thing that appeals to multiple skill levels. Does that make any sense??

I say we hold steady on what we have decided for dglo #1 and #2 but we need to make some decisions prior to the summer session.

Gut feel estimate is between 75 and 50 percent of all A2CoPS players will attend (currently at 95 players).


Tournament Inclusion into the PS:

Goal to encourage players to play local events during the Winter and to help support DGLO fund raising.

The following rules were discussed – no vote but all were focused and working towards a set of rules to enable tournaments to be included as a special points event. It was decided that the first A3 DGLO series tournament would be used as a test to evaluate the inclusion of other tournaments. There are many special aspects of tournaments that makes the points assignment method challenging. The following rules are the attempt to gather a few generic rules and processes that could apply to most common tournament formats. Division and Format are major factors. There was discussion of separation of Pro and Am into two player pools for “Earned Points” (Players Beat Calculation) – Divisions were discussed to help motivate newer players.



Tournament Player Point Formula = (Participation points + Points earned (players beat) + Out Right 1st place Winner ) x Multiplier + ACE Points

“Multiplier”:
Point assignment formula is the one we use currently use plus a multiplier base on the entry fee. Every $5 increment of the entry fee equals an additional “Multiplier”, rounding down ($33 entry fee would be equally to a “6” multiplier, $20 = 4

Participation points = 2

Point s Earned – “based on current method” – one point per person you scored better than – Ties get the same Earned Point total

Out Right 1st place Winner – If 1st place is not a tie – then they are the Out Right Winner and this value equals 2)

Ace Points – 50 pts for an ACE.(no Multiplier)

No Temperature dependant (double points for less than 15degress) point incentives.


How to enter into DGS – Pete will work his dB magic and handle Tournament inclusion with method for entering players points to Tournament details and those players with DGS profiles will automagically be updated in the A2CoPS league.

We discussed Divisions and Format. If the format is a “fair” handicapping system then the grouping of pools can be based on format

If all players play the same format than the higher divisions (pro/Open) have a greater advantage and so on down the division so the pools should be broken up by divisions. (3 pool example above)

If the each division is properly handicapped by the format, example may be Pro play all long, A1 play 1 long /1 short and A2 play all short, then everyone can be in one pool as in the last example (“one pool”).

I need someone who knows better if the format of play is actually a “fair” handicapping system. The above is to give more data and ideas to help us select the points calculation method.




Summer league:

Include all “local” leagues and find a name for this new collection of leagues or regional area for a bigger Point Series. Need to capture core rules and process and then invite the local league coordinators to provide ideas and solidify who wants to participate with the newly defined summer rules and with a few local tournaments inclusion

Basic idea – all league can award points each week – Each week there will be one league that will get double points to encourage players to play all the different leagues. Assignment method TBD.

Leagues should encourage and promote the local tournaments but leagues do not need to be cancelled because of a local tournament on the same day – League coordinator can decide to cancel their weekly league at their discretion and players always have the choice where to play.

1 B - Need to capture base rules and process for other leagues to review to help them decide if they want to join and if so what they must do – of course we will solicit ideas from the new leagues but will stay close to our base rules and methods.

2 Summer League - Second meeting will be for participating leagues to prepare and kick off.

3 – Sponsors for Winter Final event – secure and provide details to group.

4 – Sell A2CoPS Winter Discs – money collected at the end of the league or once all your discs are sold. Money to Mike or Scott.

Just wanted to touch base about making the DGLO Points events part of the cooperative series. I've got all the dates up on A3's profile and the tournament profile. $20 per person and people can cashless pre-reg on DGScene. We'll have Pro, Am1,2,3,4 and any relevant womens' divisions. Pete can do the scoring whatever way you guys want to do it. Winners of each division should probably be rewarded equally; perhaps points can be awarded to the rest of the players according to a proportionally sliding scale dependent upon the size of each division? A blurb on the Points Series page letting people know we're part of it (if that's cool) would be awesome as well. Thanks a lot and I'll talk to you soon!

We have updated the point award method and have gone back retroactively to update previous scores. All players who complete a round and turn in a score card receive 2 points in addition to 2 points for each team they beat and if first place is an Out Right Winner - No tie for first with a playoff then they get 2 points for no one beating them. DNF get no points but are counted as Beat by others. All the leagues scores have been updated to reflect these rules.

Something like that - open to suggestions.

You can let me know when you would like me to post the updated scores or feel free to do them all yourself as they are already saved - what ever is easier.

After more thought now I agree that last place should get at least two points. Maybe we should institute a rule that says "Minimum # of points per player is 2 if you finish the round" This would make last and second to last get two points, which is fine with me.

Also a general question on Cali and I'm surprised this hasn't been brought up yet. Should cali get double the points? As of now Cali is only getting single points but due to Daemon winning on Sunday he probably will bring this up once the scores get posted. We should specify cali only gets single points not double.

Foz - "Cali is an option that most pick to have a known partner, and get the extra throw per hole. Normally if they pay double they get full payout.
My view is that there are advantages for a good player to go Cali without the double points - the double points would be a significant impact to the point margin. Need to think more on this one but for now I say we stand by the current rule - points based on players beat and evaluate for the future.

Question on Aces on cold weather (-15) days, are they worth double? I say no. 100 points is too much. We should specify in the rules though.
Foz - "The intent in my opinion was a fixed special point award - independent of the Double points due to temperature that affects the core points based on number of players you beat - which (# of players) will probably be lower since the bad weather conditions - encourage to play in bad weather. - So I agree 100 points to high - Fixed 50 for now - fine tune the number for next league this special award is used in. 50 was a SWAG for us to evaluate during this first PS league"

I'll upload a few pictures to the soon to be created Ypsi Dubs Treasure Chest - with all the CTP items up for grabs. I'd be happy to make one for you to pay off my debt to the winner of the logo contest. Everyone loves the logo. Or I can can provide Corner Brewery $'s - which ever will keep you warmer this winter.

Now that I have buttered you up can I ask if you have given any thought to the AACPS logo ;-) It would be great to use it for DGS and DGRUS and hopefully for the Fund raiser discs which we should get an order in soon so we have a chance to sell them and maybe get a second order depending on how well they sell.

This is still dependant on DGS to be able to handle the points and player management and the rules for determining point awards especially if players in different divisions play different formats (ex; pads or courses). Is it league rounds only or a final 9 at the Final Event party but that is another topic. Although to clarify the issue was not related to more than one point per player you beat and LC having the ability to change this but rather the definition of who you beat - league round or the playoff that sometimes happens to decide payouts. Either way there are never more points given out then the number of people playing, but if you playoff the one who wins gets more that the one who lost the playoff versus they both get the same lower point total since they did not beat each other - hence the tie.

I implement #1, as this last Sunday represents - tie for second place - but I full support #3 - LC has his choice of playoff or not - if this is our only chatter or flexible/vague rule than the PS is not in jeopardy. I may be long winded but I am not decisive if the choice is between #1 and #3 during this session. The real power will be if we can successfully manage soliciting and addressing the players views in a positive manner - so it can be the Players Union without outsiders seeing the group as a belligerent chaotic mess.

Thanks for all the great feedback and insights. From what I have heard we need to close out the vote and have a ruling we all can state and defend for this session, for everyone's sake. And I have only heard positive comments on creating a players forum to solicit their views about the future so we can review these ideas before or at the planning meeting for the Summer PS.

Tournaments -
Scott do you see Tim often? Can you coordinate with him on our behalf or I'd meet you guys for a beer ;-) I believe he is also the TD of the farmhouse portion of the BRATS Farmhouse tournament - we need to decide quickly if we should add this or any event. Pete would it be hard to handle points from a tournament or maybe create a bogus league called PS Tournaments, add it to the PS League and use it to enter the players and points in separately for any tournament that is accepted as a PS event. Just an idea if the other way causes extra effort or complexity - you have this mechanism already. We would just want to be able to get the word out so everyone has time to plan if they are really focused on winning - Fortch would be bummed if we sprung an event on him and he had already planned something else for that day - I just like teasing Fortch and promote the PS - artificail competitive hype - I liked your comment Scott when you joined into the glow tonight - Fortch going down - , but you get the point. I am for it. I would like to get a feel for how it affect the PS dynamics and what the players views are. How to address any other events that want to be added. My view is we say something like 1 event per month to again test out the system and keep the rule discussion "manageable". The A3 has a big payback to the local DG community and fills up Jan, Feb & March so there would only be Dec open if everyone was on board with adding Tournaments, A3 and BRATS/Farmhouse and I have not missed any gotchas.

Pete, you're logic is good and I agree with you on these points. I don't want players to play leages against each other because one breaks ties and another does not. I will change my vote to:

"1) No Playoff for Tie - one point for each person you beat during the Official League Round. "

'Official Leage Round' means the stroke play based round or is that up for intepretation? Could the the LC set a points tiebreaker that happens during the round, like total # of deuces on the day? This could be an easy way to break ties for all players as long as the scorecard is turned in.

I strongly feel that keeping it simple is the best choice.

I'm still OK with adding the A3 winter tournaments in. Tim Gaciouch is leading the planning and promotion of this monthly series and he is the only person I've talked to about it. I think we should sit down with him to see where he is at with his planning. This series goal is to raise funds for the DGLO 2010, so a worthy cause and anything we can do to increase attendence is a good thing.

League round ties –
Cash is the immediate focus of players and normally get's played off - specific league rules apply.
Points – Guideline defined - Points are awarded based on the number of players you beat.
I assume in the league round all players played in but that is open for interpretation to include the play-off.

The primary difference between the two methods is that if you leave the points as a tie it encourages the players to play more to earn more points and over take their close competitors.

The PS is to encourage as much play as possible throughout the Winter session. It is also a learning period in which we hope to involve the players to help define the directions and future of the leagues. We need to provide stable rules that players believe in and can count on for the PS to grow.

I suggest that during this Winter PS league we let each League coordinator determine the method they use and we solicit feedback from LC & Players so that we have the players views represented when we vote on the rules for the next PS. DGS allows us to do it either way without any issues. I would suggest that each league state before the round how their league handles ties so there are no surprises and that we are soliciting feedback for the future.

Pete I talked with Terry on Sunday and he is very interested in meeting with you. Would you be available this Saturday or Sunday? I have been trying to meet with him for awhile and finally he got some time and he even made it out to Ypsi Dubs before our meeting.

I gave Terry the run down on the PS and mentioned the possible inclusion of the three A3 tournaments Jan – Mar. Terry asked if Ben’s Glow league or the up coming BRAT’s Farm House tournament could be added. I explained that we have already turned down Kensington League as we needed to get this off the ground and prove it out. So no additional leagues for this Winter PS but we hope to add more local leagues to the Summer PS and mentioned we would have a meeting early next year. If we are still considering adding the A3 tournaments – I hope someone is talking with Jeff at A3 – than can we consider doing the same with the “Brat’s Farm House tournament” in Nov? Terry has always had the cooperative mission in mind and is not looking to drive or influence this effort but would like to help, even sponsor some activities. Terry is Disc Golf & Throw Shop focused.

Terry would like to offer up the basement of the Throw shop for meetings. He wants to fix it up to be a club house eventually. I asked what kind of beer he going to have on tap 

The tournament topic brings up other points to discuss but I’d like to first know everyone’s view of adding the tournaments into the Winter PS mix – again at this point just for this Winter PS – The more we learn and the more feedback we get the better the Summer PS can be. A major factor would also be if DGS can handle adding points from a Tournament in some fashion – since tournaments do not have points per say or maybe there is already an option for that.

Initial question - Continue to explore Tournament inclusion in the Winter PS? Yes or NO

If yes we will then need to verify with Pete what could be done and define a limited set of tournaments to include and get the word out. Also, if Yes, than who is talking with A3? The consensus on perceptions that I am getting from a few people is there is some animosity between 101 and A3. I know there is an occasional differing in opinions on some topics and with some personalities but I see these taken out of context and not as something that defines the groups or their desire to work together for the sport and our area. It would be great if one of the “101 Founder Icons” could facilitate this connection sooner than later – especially since this great idea was brought to the PS attention by their ongoing collaborations and discussions – Let me know if I can help.

I will begin to solicit sponsorship for the PS with a focus on getting stuff for the Final Event and without any real commitment besides mentioning the sponsors at the event. We can explore a more formal sponsorship program as the event begins to take shape.
We need to look at this year’s tournament calendar for a preview of what to expect for 2010 events to try and get our date for the event nailed down and avoid conflicts. Most will not set their schedules until January and may not post them until even later. The MDGO meeting is coming up – Is anyone planning on attending? This would be a great place to coordinate our date as well as get feedback on future participation – maybe there is a Tournament PS and a League PS in the future – Sorry Pete, am I driving you crazy yet 

Well I hope you enjoyed this short message as I am buried at work these days. So you probably won’t see to many more messages for awhile. I hope to get a round in soon to get my PS points up there ;-) We had a tie at Ypsi Dubs Sunday – I’m going to stay with the way we have always done it – play off for cash but not for points – unless I hear different from the group vote.

A total of 25 players were there meaning that by the PS standards all of the teams tieing for 2nd would get 18 points each.

Should the throwoff for cash also include points implications since you are really 'breaking the tie'? In this scenario the winner of the throwoff would get 22 points, 2nd place would get 20 and 3rd would get 18. So in effect you are not taking any points away.. Here is a table:

With ties:
1st: 26 points
2nd: 18 points
2nd: 18 points
2nd: 18 points
3rd: 16 points

With ties for the cash spots broken by throwoff CTP:
1st: 26 points
2nd: 22 points
3rd: 20 points
4th: 18 points
5th: 16 points

My personal opinion is that the league coordinator (LC) should be given the lattitude to determine what is "beating someone" whether it be a tie by score or a tie broken by a CTP throwoff. The LC would also then be able to break ties down the line if he desired to do so. (like 8th and 9th place for example). The LC could not give out more points that his allotment from the PS (so he couldn't give 24 points to 2nd in this example) but the LC should be able to maximize his allotment by breaking ties and so on if desired and if the players want it that way. Of course this is not necessary and the LC could decide to not break ties by a throwoff. My point is only that we should leave it up to the LC to decide what makes the most sense for his league.

Last night Garrett wasn't sure what he could do for points vs. what the PS dictates. I think the long term success of this PS hinges on how much lattitude we give to individual leagues to offer unique formats and methods for point distribution, but also maintaining some kind of standard to prevent points exploitation.

Cali throw - In each league if the cali hits a ace on the second throw does it count toward the ace pool. For Ypsi Dubs it has not - Since no other player who paid in gets a warm up or second shot, and the Cali is normally a Pro - it poses an unfair advantage to them and discourages the newer players. Not a big deal and since it does not happen often it is more a mental factor - lower participation and fairness - than something that people would be made about if the Cali hits an Ace. A3 events being added - I like the idea and Ypsi Dubs Sunday will be the most impacted as they will be on our league day - I'm still in favor. Use the same point system? If we wrap up on March 7th that is the first Sunday of March and the tournament could be the final event. We could combine our efforts to make that a bigger event with proceeds going to GLO which would be a great cause. Just an idea.

I talked with Gabe and Miah on Friday. With the rules clear and that they would not have to have leagues every week there is still hope and Gabe needs to talk with Ray and Miah. I should hear back any time now if they would like us to list 24 chains with the PS league or not.

I am writing up the description and rules for everyone to review shortly. I will add the pending suggestions so we can modify or delete them if needed and ratify the results and get it all posted.

Why doesn't everyone just post on the main page so emails go out and all the info is in one place.

Participating leagues DO NOT need to create new league pages for this; you guys can stick with your current league pages if you like. The Points Series leaderboards will take the total points from league days that fall within the Points Series master schedule.

Apart from managing the Points Series league page, there won't be any changes. As long as we all follow the convention for point awarding (1 point for each player you beat), the Leaderboard should be just fine. There is no separate "Points Series" point input box- the system simply copies the regular points to the Points Series leaderboard.
So if you get 10 points at Saturday Dubs, you get 10 points for the Points Series.

This is shaping up to be pretty cool, and I'm happy that it shouldn't be any extra work for most of you. You'll just be responsible for managing your own leagues, like always.

One thing I think we should keep in mind as organizers is that it is OK to not do a PS league one week if there is another big tournament in the area. We don't want to step on toes of other clubs trying to get the limited number of winter players. We can see how to tweak this if it needs to be an actual written requir ... more

Miah conveyed 24 chains concerns and deep regret that they do not think it makes sense for 24 chains to participate in this first Winter Point Series as they have just formed recently, they are all very busy with many other very important matters that need their attention and they do not want to let anyone down if they are unable to meet each week. They appreciate all the efforts of all involved and for the willingness to include them in the development of such an endevour. They are full behind the ideas under which this Point Sewris was established. Miah also expressed that they were concerned if there was a fee as they many times have no fee for their weekly leagues.

We asked Miah to stay if he could to provide his input as a League Coordinator & Player.

Topics discussed and Voted on:
- Number of points per league round?

Points awarded to each player is based on one point times the number of players with a lower score. Last place receives no points.

To simply points assignment into the Point Series League from the individual leagues players must be registered “Linked” players of DiscGolfScene.com otherwise resolving names to automate point assignment would be very difficult especially with the limited time. DGS is free to register. This also helps to increase the odds that message sent to individual league members and Point Series members will get to the players – helping disseminate information within the Player community.

- Should there be a points minimum or cap? Cap is based on the number of players. See rule above.

- Extra points for adverse weather conditions?

Yes – For days were the Temperature with Wind Chill is below 15 degrees F, double points are awarded. The LC determines this and indicates this fact in the League Board – If any disputes arise it goes to the Governing board and the majority rules to resolve the dispute. Weather history can be used to help resolve any dispute.


- Points every week, or scheduled to encourage participation in various leagues?

All Leagues – All weeks are eligible for points. It is up to the league Coordinator to determine if they play on a given week. Notice should be provided to players in advance but this may not always be possible. It is up to the league to deal with alternate league coordinators and data entry to have points count toward the Points Series if desired.

- Other leagues (Kensington, Shot in the Dark) to include?

To help get the rules, feedback, data entry system and other aspects coordinated it was decided to keep the group (participating leagues) to the original four leagues and bring other local leagues that desire to join for the summer league into the planning discussions before the summer league begins.


- Entry Fee or No Entry Fee? No entry fee will be charged. This will promote the largest participation during the winter when the number of players drops off normally. It will be reevaluated for any future PS league.




- Dates Oct 12th til Mar. 13th?

It was agreed that we should have an event to wind up the PS league. It will most likely be at Indy Lake. Final 9 would be nice. It would be good to have a round that all could play. Food and award of a Trophy is desired. Details are yet to be determined. We will express that we plan on having an event at the end of the league to crown PS winner.

Miah knows someone who may be able to make a Trophy in Shop – Maybe a Metal disc in flight. Other ideas and some sponsorship need to be collected and discussed.

If we could get a cool trophy and let it travel to the different leagues by the middle of the event and post a picture online than it would pump up the participation when the coldest weather hits and we all need a boost.

Based on the outcome of the votes – I asked Miah to go back and discuss with Gabe and Ray if they would still consider participating when ever it worked out. It is up to them. All we need to know is if we should include their league name in the information about the PS League.

– Are all leagues playing on the weeks with Holidays? This needs to be known no matter what Format we decide on but if we schedule weeks than it is critical to know. We should help players plan their schedules by posting the info well in advance – Each individual league schedules helps with this unless the PS is a subset of each of the regularly scheduled league’s schedules.

3) Point Series Name:
– What do we call this Point Series? The Champion by points is the Champion of what? Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Cooperative Points series – we don’t have all the area leagues in it yet so this does not work and I’m sure you guys can think of a cooler name. The name can change for the summer when it is expanded. This is not crucial but it is always easier to have a cool name to reference it by versus “Our Point Series”.

4) Point Series Coordination Group:
– What do we call ourselves? I suggest we name our collaboration group – It will help increase the potential of this idea to grow. It will also enable us to create a “Club” on DGS under which we can list the Point Series League and then it is clearer that it is a collaboration and not one current club/league who is heading this up.

5) Other Local leagues and Key DG Community Contributors:
I gave heads up to Jeff K, Bill Gilbert and Terry Calhoun to reduce any animosity and ensure we maximize the future collaborative participation. I expressed that we are starting small with the groups that play a lot together so we can prove this out and then open it up to others interested groups in the summer during the main league session. I will send the same info to Damon & Ben as they are local league coordinators, so they are informed . I’d like to get all local DG organizers inform with the same info before they hear it indirectly. And Yes I have a big mouth so it will happen soon ;-) Anyone else who should be informed?

Is anyone open to having another meeting Monday or can we use this forum to discuss and vote on such topics?

Sorry if I seem a little aggressive but I know how time flies, word spreads and I hate rushing at the end. Number one reason for failure or poor results. I'd like to nailed down these last items and then the framework will be set with a high potential for success. I can do a bunch of these tasks if I know I have the groups direction captured correctly. Then we are ready and there should be little else to do but get the Official Word out.

There are a few more notes on each of these topics in the Talk section but I thought I'd consolidate them here and sent out to you directly.

To get this proof of concept going we will try and keep it simple and gather ideas and resolve issues to prepare for a future PS that could include other leagues.

Points assignment - For this first PS let the leagues use their current methods of point assignment so the DGS changes are minimal.

Pete to evaluate what can be done within DGS to facilitate populating the PS league with data as it is entered by each of the participating leagues and keep effort to a minimum for all.

No cost to join the point series - actually the easiest is that all who play the individual leagues are automatically entered into the PS league otherwise DGS or the League Coordinator (LC) has to edit the list during data entry to remove those players who do not want to be part of the PS. Otherwise you have to add new players to the PS before you upload your league scores and only those that are currently in the PS get their scores added. Pete may have feedback on this. It may be that once added to the PS league their scores automatically appear from the participating leagues from the time frame of the PS league -or from the date they were added - the later encourages people to join as soon as possible and not at the end if they have good scores - more of an issue if there is a cost - but up to Pete to evaluate what can be done for this initial PS league.

In the future we would like to explore not only a point system that highlights Wins but also find ways to encourage the Average player and we need to evaluate how to manage the difference between larger & small leagues.

Dates of Initial PS league - Use Day light savings dates - Oct 12th was selected as the starting date and the end (i believe ) is the second Sunday of March (13th) which ensure the same number of league weeks no matter what day of the week they play.

A desire was expressed to have some sort of end of the league event - tournament - cookout... This needs to be finalized but it's safe to say that we will have an event - we need to discuss details and look at other DG events schedules but the preliminary word can be that we plan on having an Event to wrap things up. Maybe have a final 9 for the top players so the winner is not known until the end.

The idea of Disc sales to generate revenue to fund awards, event. The details need to be discussed and they can be printed after the start of the league.

If other leagues ask we explain that we are very interested in more leagues joining in the future but wanted to prove out the idea and mechanisms that make it logistically feasible before we expand the membership. We hope to have a meeting with interested leagues in Jan/Feb to prepare for the summer PS league(s).

Note the one time cost to join this working group league was $1M but Pete's programming thwarted by shenanigans - nice one Pete. Oh I take Cash or circular plastic.

Thanks again for everyone's input and enthusiasm toward this activity to pull the local DG community together and hopefully elevate the local DGS to new heights. Foz
