The Abendschein Disc Golf League (ADGL) has it's first season under way. The league focuses on helping players become more comfortable in an organized setting by using PDGA rules and including prizes and friendly competition. The league is every Sunday at 5pm and is a singles league that bases your end of the season score on your best 8 out of 10 weeks. You can come and play in one of the 3 different leagues offered, which varies by skill level. We'd love to see you come down and p ...

Week 7 Pre-News
Week 7 out of 10 is on Sunday. This week we said at leagues and it's been confirmed not just by me but as a majority of the league that this week will be 2 disc only week for all divisions. So grab any two discs you want, putter and midrange or driver is recommended and come ready to play. Again let's understand that the league is competitive in nature but we should do the best we can and show our character as a league by doing what we can to make this course the best it can be. Let's be sure to pick up garbage that's right in the fairway or near the teepads, respect the other players of the course, especially the families and couples who come out to have a fun round. Just remember that not everyone who comes out here is not in-it-to-win-it and just want to get away from reality for a couple hours and have some fun. Sorry to say but NONE of us are CLOSE to being a professional disc golfer so let's make the best of the situation and make this course as much fun as possible. Not trying to be rash just kind of sick of people thinking they are so darn good and being blatantly disrespectful to the league and me. Don't throw your money at me when you sign in, you can call me a sandbagger since that's kind of true, but not on purpose, stop bringing glass bottles that kids just end up smashing and throwing your cig butts on the teepad, swear like a sailor, shows a lot about your character and believe me, I'm not the only person who doesn't want to be around those types of people. For the last time, when I put in all the effort to start this league it was to bring our disc golf community together, learn to respect each other and the course, and have friendly, respectful competition and to further ourselves as people. Not trying to be harsh, the league overall has been, in my opinion, FANTASTIC! Glad to meet so many great people and have seen some of you improve your game and just play with different people. Think we are doing the best we possibly can for a first time league and hope everyone is enjoying themselves, you can ALWAYS recommend and tell me how you feel, understanding person and this is not MY league, this is OUR league. - Cody
p.s. we were playing the course last week, an officer of duh law parked behind hole 1 by those pine trees and walked around the course backwards, most likely looking for illegal activity, since we don't have walkie talkies for each group and can't light the beacons to make people aware, it'd be smart of you to leave your beer and whatnot off the course, again if you were to get caught at leagues, you are playing for fun because if you say you are out there playing leagues getting drunk and stoned, there will not be a league anymore. Remember, once again, and I'm not your mother, we are trying to advance the sport of disc golf and make a good name for it so getting hammered at leagues probably isn't that cool and really don't think it'll help you shoot better. Have a beer or two or a funky smokey treat before you get to leagues or wait till after. I'm also going to be trying to get a bar or buffalo wild wings (terry does this for valley view leagues) to sponsor us and they would give us a discount or free certificates that we can do ctp's for and other ideas so if you know a bar or what not that would be in for that or just an idea for me to check out, let me know.

News for this comming Sunday, July 24th.
The league this Sunday will be 1 of 2 double point nights with the other being the 10th week. This will work by you getting the standard points of 1 for showing up and 1 for every person you finish in front of, multiplied by 2. Also after the League and CTP this weekend we will have a dirty doller round which is played by putting down 1$/hole (up to 20 players) and the CTP for that hole takes the money for that hole. You must have 18$ in singles and must play every hole to be in the dirty doller round. Since it is getting dark earlier we will start promptly at 5 for the league and 7 at the latest for the dirty doller round. The ace pool was split last week at 27$ each by Mark Klug with him hitting an ace on 17 and Nate Bergemann hitting his FIRST ever ace which he hit on 14! I'll be contacting Terry and hope that he will be able to make it out NEXT weekend so you can cash in your funny money! Remember as well that you can cash in your funny money anytime you see Terry and his mobile store at one of the other Southeastern Wisconsin courses, with your best bet being any Wednesday at the league he directs over at Valley View DGC in New Berlin. We had a kind donation of 15$ this week from Julie at Sport and Fitness Outlet on the corner of 27th and College in the Pick'N'Save/Tri-City Bank strip mall! We will play a CTP for the prize at the end of leagues. We've had nice weather so far but it looks like the course might be wet on Sunday and possible even raining (we will play rain or shine) so it'd be smart to bring a few small towels and it will only be cancelled if there is severe storming and I will be there to say it's cancelled if that happens.

Who's having fun, THIS GUY!
The league has been awesome so far, after our second week we finally have Matt K. hitting an Ace on #17 early in his round! The competition between all 3 leagues is very tight and makes every shot count that much more! We had a giveaway this past weekend for an after round CTP from about 100 feet. The closest to the pin was Jeff who got within 3 feet and won a Champion Firebird from WIDYE for his efforts, which looks "dope!"!!! The other winner this past week was Danny H. in a ring of fire duel between him and current top dog Mark Klug. Both these guys deserve major kudos for their putting skills but Danny ended up making the 40'-50' putt and winning a SWEET KC Pro Aviar from Pandamonium which Danny was using to bang putt after putt INSTANTLY after he won it! The league is shapping up to be awesome in all elements of fun, competition, learning and understanding the game, respecting each other and so much more. We will play this following Sunday July 3rd but the week after we will have an off week on the 10th. The 5th and 10th week of the leagues will be double points week so if you're trailing or worried, have no fear, just bring your A game on the 5th and 10th weeks!
