Final Round for 2012

Tonight was the final round this season for the Ottawa Disc Golf League. All the younger players are back to school and it was very close to dark when we finished the round tonight. It's time to bring it to a close. I want to thank all 38 players who participated this season. 25 of those 38 players played 3 or more rounds. I want to congratulate Steve Traucht for perfect attendance. He and I are the only 2 players who played all 15 rounds this year. Congratulations also to Fred Cartwright. ... more

I want to thank all 38 players who participated this season. 25 of those 38 players played 3 or more rounds. I want to congratulate Steve Traucht for perfect attendance. He and I are the only 2 players who played all 15 rounds this year.

Congratulations also to Fred Cartwright. He is the only player who threw an Ace this year. As a result, he was the player with the highest payout this year at $184.

The Ace pool balance at the end of the season is $166 so it will start next year at $100 with $66 in reserve.

One more week and the Ottawa Disc Golf League will be over for another season.

Ottawa Disc Golf League Results: July 23, 2012

The Ottawa Disc Golf League is finally back on their home course following significant tree damage in the June 29 wind storm.

Only 7 players made it out on Monday night but it paid off big for Fred Cartwright. He ended up playing without a partner. He took First Place with a score of 43. He won the CTP on Hole 18 and he won the $100 ace pool with an ace on Hole 12.

Ottawa Disc Golf League Results: July 16, 2012

The Ottawa League is still playing at Van Buren State Park because the clean-up at the Ottawa Memorial Park is still not completed.

Congratulations to Fred Cartwright and Tom McManness for their win tonight. They finished with a score of 42 in a tie with Dennis Hills who played without a partner. Fred and Tom won in the second hole of sudden death play.

Since the overall balance in the ace pool is over $200 I have been including a CTP that is funded with the ace pool. Fred Cartwright won the CTP tonight. He chose a Blizzard Champion Krait as his prize.

Ottawa Disc Golf League Results: July 9, 2012

The cleanup at Ottawa Memorial Park started today but the league met again at Van Buren State Park. I will monitor the cleanup progress to see if it will be possible to return to our home course next week.

Congratulations to Andrew Blankemeyer and Tom McManness for an excellent round. They finished with a score of 42 to take first place and $12 each. Andrew also won the CTP on hole 17. His prize was a 136 gm Blizzard Champion Boss.

Ottawa Disc Golf League Results: July 2, 2012

Because of severe storm damage to the Ottawa Disc Golf Course last Friday afternoon, the Ottawa Disc Golf League played tonight at Van Buren State Park. Several players, myself included, have been without electricity in their homes since last Friady. This and the July 4th holiday week may have contributed to the very low attendance tonight. Because of severe storm damage to the Ottawa Disc Golf Course last Friday afternoon, the Ottawa Disc Golf League played tonight at Van Buren State Park. Several players, myself included, have been without electricity in their homes since last Friady. This and the July 4th holiday week may have contributed to the very low attendance tonight.

Andrew Blankemeyer and Tom McManness tied for first place with Dennis Hills and Chad Andrews. Rather than resolve the tie by sudden death play, I chose to simply add the $8 that would have gone to the ace pool to the payout and paid each of the tied players $10.

We will continue to play at Van Buren State Park until the downed trees at the Ottawa Park have been removed and the course is once again playable.

Ottawa Disc Golf League Results: June 25, 2012

Thanks to all the players who came out to play disc golf tonight. We had 23 players with Andy Martin playing without a partner. Congratulations Andy for your first place finish with a score of 43. Andy won $28.

We all threw tonight on hole 8 from an alternate tee to avoid conflict with the children's baseball group.

The ace pool balance is now $213. With the $100 cap, this means that the winnable amount will still be $100 when someone hits an ace.

Ottawa Disc Golf League Results: June 18, 2012

Thanks to the 22 players who competed tonight. It was a great group including 2 new players: Dustin Berger and Matthew Casteneda. I had the privilege of playing with Dustin. He was a great partner.

Congratulations to the 2 teams who tied for first place at -9, 45. It was getting dark when we finished so the teams chose to divide the payout rather than play sudden death. Each team won $25.

Ottawa Disc Golf League Results: June 11, 2012

Earlier in the day it looked like this event might be cancelled because of rain but it cleared up and the heavier rains stayed to our south. We had 23 players participate tonight. What a great turnout.

Congratulations to Andrew Blankemeyer. He played without a partner and took top honors with a score of 43.

It was also announced tonight that sudden death play will now begin on hole 9 instead of hole 12. Holes 9 thru 11 will be played then holes 16 thru 18. If further play is needed, holes 16 thru 18 will be repeated until the first place tie is resolved.

Ottawa Disc Golf League Results: June 4, 2012

Tonight was the first night that players were divided into A and B tier players based on average scores from previous rounds. This matched an A tier player with a B tier player for each team. It did allow some of the B tier players to take home some prize money tonight.

Congratulations to Mike Taylor and Steve Traucht for their First Place finish at 12 under par 42.

Tonight it was observed that the stone has been removed from the playground area adjacent to hole 8. This has been OB in the past but starting next week this area will no longer be OB.

We had a good turnout tonight with 7 new players for this season. It truly is random draw but somehow last week's winners were paired together again tonight. They did it again with the same score as last week. Congratulations to Fred Cartwright and Andrew Blankemeyer for their first place finish at 11 down, 43. It won't happen next time though, we will be grouping players in upper and lower levels based on average scores. Fred and Andrew will be at the top of the upper tier so they will each ... more

Ottawa Disc Golf League Results: May 14, 2012

Three teams finished in a 3-way tie for first place with scores of 11 under par, 43. Sudden death play started on hole 12. One team dropped out on hole 13 and the final standings were not determined till hole 18.
