Matthew Hull 23 - Short tees, 9 holes "I threw a LOT today!! It got up to 60 degrees which was unreal considering that it was 0 just four days ago so I got out and enjoyed playing at Wilson Park & Twin Creek in the Middletown area. My Pikachu Pro Boss found a nice line on #3. My accuracy and putting was inconsistent for sure but I had my fair share of feel-good tosses as well. LOTS of close Ace calls too (we'll get to that)."

Matthew Hull 24 - Short tees, 9 holes "Hole #8 is definitely my favorite one @ Wilson Park. A tree blocks the straight line so you have to decide whether or not to try a hyzer throw or go with the sneaky an-hyzer toss (or simply throw directly over the tree like I did with my Neutron Envy...one of my best throws of the day without question as it went right over the basket and landed long to the left)."

Matthew Hull 23 - Short tees, 9 holes "I alternated some of my discs between rounds so that I could try a nice variety (and get "clean" discs since it was very muddy with the snow melting). My KC Roc in particular came SO close to acing Hole #1 on multiple occasions! On my very first throw with this disc, it hit a nice, straight line just to the right of the basket, faded, and HIT the bottom lip! It was so close. On a later round, my Cottonwood Buzzz would hit a nice line as well before hitting the right side of the bottom lip and the KC Roc would eventually hit the top band on yet another round. Other close calls included my Falcon Servo on Hole #2 (top band) and my Neutron Envy on #2 (almost went in on the right side of the basket for a "chainless" Ace but it wouldn't stick). And this was on a day where my accuracy didn't feel as strong as normal!"

Matthew Hull 23 - Short tees, 9 holes "In addition to drowning my sorrows by throwing my Falcon Servo a LOT today (it is Superbowl Sunday and for the first time in 30 years, I am NOT watching the game), I tried to give my Neutron Matrix a little vindication on Hole #5 (the hole it freaking nailed the chains and spit-out a few months back) and it wasn't able to hit the same Ace line today. I did manage to park a few drives with it though. My Orion and Cottonwood Buzzz came through for me on Hole #8 (an-hyzer line baby!) while my Pikachu Pro Boss hit some nice lines on #9."

Matthew Hull 22 - Short tees, 9 holes "What a finish! I was able to execute a nice Cottonwood Buzzz drive on #8 followed by a smooth Champion Destroyer (orange) drive on #9 to snag some well-earned birdies! I didn't toss my Blue Bomber Buzzz much at all today, but it did hit a nice line on #3."

Matthew Hull 23 - Short tees, 9 holes "One hole I played very well today was Hole #4! I snagged a whole slew of birdies thanks to accurate Cottonwood Buzzz and Neutron Envy throws mostly. I even tried my Patrol and Roach a bit as they can give me enough turn to miss the tree branches that pretty much block any Ace attempts from the hyzer or straight lines. The basket is there (161 ft. hole) but what I typically did was throw straight and get close enough for an easy birdie. It is hard to do better than that!"

Matthew Hull 22 - Short tees, 9 holes "My putting was definitely not very good overall but I did manage to make a few nice ones at Wilson Park. I made a solid 30-35 ft. putt on #8 and even put it a smooth sidearm toss with my Roach on #6! For some reason, I kept hitting the left-side chains and having my disc spit out though. This happened all afternoon long..."

Matthew Hull 21 - Short tees, 9 holes "YES!!!!! On a day with a plethora of near misses, inconsistent accuracy, and "Meh" putting, at least I can take away a really sweet, VERY lucky Ace! I simply wanted to give my Patrol another go on Hole #4 (the hole with the low ceiling thanks to the tree branches blocking anything thrown high) so I tossed it, watched it hit a nice an-hyzer line, disappear in the midst of the tree branches (it was a higher throw than I wanted), SOMEHOW not hit anything, and fade right smack dab into the basket!!! It was really cool to watch and I know in my heart of hearts that I snagged a super lucky one today. Still, it was sort of what I was trying to do...but to miss the tree branches like that was pretty miraculous! I even PARKED my Patrol on Hole #8 for good measure! It is definitely a squirrel-y disc but on good days, that Patrol can sure hit a sweet an-hyzer line! :)"

Matthew Hull 24 - Short tees, 9 holes "Before Sunday's Ace Race @ Twin Creek, I decided to enjoy a few leisurely rounds at Wilson Park as a warm up of sorts. It was really nice too! Calm, quiet...with no distractions whatsoever (too bad the Ace Race couldn't have been like that). I threw my Sting a bit and hit some nice lines! The Neutron Matrix and Star Rat saw plenty of action too. :)"

Matthew Hull 20 - Short tees, 9 holes "Well...if nothing else, the Ace Race got me warmed up for...another set of rounds @ Wilson Park! It wasn't the original plan but, after having to endure death metal music and cigarette smoke throughout our two rounds, I couldn't wait to just get out of there and enjoy some disc golf in peace! I honestly don't know how in the world you are supposed to hit aces with distractions like that but it is what it is. In any case, I had a nice time and actually threw MUCH better during these rounds versus my warm up rounds earlier in the day. I actually threw my Sting along with my prototype 2018 Ace Race disc (VERY understable disc that requires *extremely* good touch...probably not a bad disc with time and practice but it didn't serve me well in the Ace Race) and the Sting sure won that battle! ;) I hit some nice lines on #7 (Sting) and #8 (Champion Destroyer) too!"

Matthew Hull 20 - Short tees, 9 holes "I got a fantastic deuce on #9 with my Champion Destroyer (tough hole to deuce)!"

Matthew Hull 21 - Short tees, 9 holes "Welp...my Neutron Matrix throw on #5 pretty much summed things up. It is a straight then downhill 170 ft. hole and I threw my Matrix on a superb line! It went straight then faded beautifully, hit dead center chains, and was rejected. Simple as that. It was the perfect throw, should have been an Ace, but apparently, it simply wasn't my day today. Oh well. I actually had another great run one hole later with my Patrol (turned, missed the LARGE tree in front of the basket, and landed just wide right of the basket) but alas...no aces were to be found this evening. I tried though...I tried!"

Matthew Hull 20 - Short tees, 9 holes "Amazingly enough, I found a way to snag another birdie on #9! This one was thanks to a smooth 25-30 ft. putt with my Warden. That disc continues to impress me. Just when you think you have thrown every type of putter, another one comes along that fits like a glove. :)"

Matthew Hull 22 - Short tees, 9 holes "I was on my way home and at the last minute, I decided to stop @ Wilson Park and play a couple of rounds there. I had hardly played at this course and I remember enjoying it so I decided to "cool down" with a few rounds on the "Reserves-like" short tees. Seriously...this course is about as ace-friendly as Reserves, Germantown, Winton Woods, and the like...not that I am complaining mind you! ;) I threw a healthy dose of the Megasoft Shield and Glo Roach from the tees along with the occasional Patrol (#6) and of course Cottonwood Buzzz (hit a beautiful straight line on #3 and 4). I also threw some practice throws with a few new discs I am breaking in such as the Verdict and Evidence which both have lots of potential."
-7
Matthew Hull 20 - Short tees, 9 holes "Yes, the holes are SUPER short but still...it was nice to thrash my previous record and snag a 7 under round here! My putting was good for the most part (the Roach continues to simply work for me...no need to change a thing right now) and my Cottonwood Buzzz was as steady as they come on #3 and 4. The Megasoft Shield was solid as well. I parked the Patrol on the really fun #8 too. I went to the left of the tree and simply tried to hit the same line I hit on #14 @ Harbin yesterday. I pretty much hit it...just didn't snag an ace this time. ;)"

Matthew Hull 31 - Long tees, 9 holes "Despite not feeling up to snuff, I broke out my Emergency (Vitamin C powder) and I honestly felt great as I played a little league action up North. The guys were all cool to play with (my friend Mark runs a league up there) and I had some nice throws! My Champion Destroyer got me off to a nice start on #1 and 2 (superb drives despite the noticeable wind factor) and my Pikachu Pro Boss (excellent drive on #9) and Blue Bomber Buzzz found good lines. I did have a few hiccups (missed a 5 ft. putt on #3 due to sheer laziness and disaster struck on #6 with a Resistor sidearm throw gone bad) but overall, I played well enough."

Matthew Hull 26 - Short tees, 9 holes "Now this round was fun! Several holes were legitimate ace opportunities and, while I couldn't quite find pay dirt tonight, I did snatch some birdies early on. I thought my Blue Bomber Buzzz had an ace shot on #1 but I put too much distance on it (made a nice 20-25 ft. putt though) and I had a wild Star Roadrunner drive on #6 that hit a tree branch and darn near went through the "V" in the trees to give me an ace (another branch altered that line though). I went with the Inertia once tonight on #8 and I overshot the hole (nearly aced #8 last time I played here with the Inertia...why not try, right?) I did survive #9 with a solid Reko putt that allowed me to win a whopping $6 so it wasn't a total loss! ;)"

Matthew Hull 30 - Mid tees, 9 holes "The highlight for me was easily a 100+ ft. putt that I made with my Envy! It simply felt like a perfect throw and I honestly felt even better about this toss than my Ace the other day! :) Unfortunately, the rest of the round was kind of a meh-ish performance but it was still good fun. I did manage to park my old DX Beast on #6 for an easy birdie at least! I also had an Inertia drive that went 3 ft. over the hole #8 basket! Unfortunately, it was not my main throw!"

Matthew Hull 29 - Mid tees, 9 holes "We were able to sneak in one last round at Wilson Park and it was once again very enjoyable! I wasn't able to get any birdies this time around but I was at least more consistent. I did break out my new MVP Wave and it feels SO good! I really look forward to breaking in that disc (my friend Jon threw it once and it went a LONG way). My main driver was the Inertia because of how stable it is and the fact that the tee pads were very snowy/slick. That pretty much negated my distance drivers since I couldn't execute my usual run up throw."
